He absolutely should be put down. He's not only unfit to serve trial, he's unfit to live. If a dog goes nuts and attacks his family, you kill him. This "person" is no different. There's ZERO reason he's still alive. NONE AT ALL.

This isn’t him trying to claim he’s not guilty by way of insanity. Sounds like the lawyer is saying he’s incompetent to stand trial because he can’t assist in his defense. At least in Alabama such persons are generally detained in a mental institution until such time as they are competent. Then he gets tried.

They're going to put him in the looney bin and try to "get him competent" enough to stand trial. If that doesn't happen, he'll likely stay locked up in a secured psychiatric facility. If they do "get him competent" then the trial will resume.

Yep, if anything actually getting to the sanity commission is pretty difficult, much less being found actually incomptent to stand trial.
If this is where the court landed, I am guessing he may actually be insane.

Right - but this is setting him up for an insanity defense. And if successful he spends a few years in a mental hospital and then is released when some libtard says he is cured.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the burden basically just that the defendant understands who the members of the court are and what's he's on trial for/assist his lawyer? Doesn't seem like a high bar to meet.

There will be no defense because he will not stand trial. His insanity defense is already successful in that way, at least for now. He's going to be in a secure psych facility until he either dies or is found competent.

Basically yes, but when you have a legit schitzo, what they think is going on doesn't always overlap with reality. They have their own way of masking, which isn't always easy to decipher. Lying and pretending to be crazy has a lot of safeguards in the tests, but not the other way around.

Yeah - I get that. I am just saying that if he isn't competent right now then it bodes well (at least as opposed to no such finding) for an eventual insanity defense once he is found to be competent.

Which if it turns out that he is as looney tunes as he probably is trying to shoot for, he should never be released ever again. If you're "crazy" enough to brutally murder someone like he did, you're far too crazy to ever be around normal people again in public.
