In that regard Switzerland is an outlier. A country with nothing but rocks and mountains, and a few lakes, and no natural resources. And they're not part of the EU and they still use their old currency. And, they're ethnically diverse with 4 official languages and many religious groups. Somehow they have the highest standard of living in the world.

The EU has gotten exactly what it wanted out of this. No one is talking about leaving anymore after this shitshow in the UK. No need to push the relationship to a worse place than this. Hell, there's a small but reasonable chance they might come crawling back without a Brexit.

The Scots will never be English, and yes, the Scots want to build this socialist paradise, but the EU won’t support division, for their own selfish reasons, and the Scots behind the separatist movement aren’t half as tough as they need to be.
