If I need a root canal, I can still pay cash for it - even in today’s crazy inflationary environment.

I can’t really do that for most insurance covered procedure.

Payment at the point of service is a great downward pressure on price.

Sounds like more of a war against high costs of insurance, which everyone should be at war with.
It is NOT a war against high cost of insurance. Handing people a subsidy doesn’t bring down the cost a bit. It just shifts it onto taxpayers.

Nor should they. Government isn’t about delivering personal emotional care.

Health insurance is nothing but a loan. You make payments to an account, as in a pre-paid "build your credit" debit card, except this account is pooled with others.
You’ve described collectivism, not insurance.

I’ll grant you that’s what democrats have tried to turn it into… but it’s not insurance.

Just like we do with education.
This isn’t a value proposition. In many places you pay lots of money to avoid the public schools. Why do people have to pay twice? Once for schools they wouldn’t dare use, and again for the schools that are competent? Just pay for the latter and everyone is better off.

If people want something, they'll pay for it.
Not only that, but if doctors have to be paid from patients directly, their prices will reflect what PTs can afford.

If a person cannot pay $300,000 for a procedure, it does the provider no good to charge that and drive the PT into bankruptcy. They’ll collect less out of BK than they would setting a lower price.

The third-party payers screw all this up, by letting prices go far beyond what a reasonable person could afford. Removing personal responsibility, turns out, it damn expensive

So are you in favor of scrapping public schools, then?

It would take society back to the 16th or 17th century and before, where only people of means would have an education.

I’m not sure we have enough completely unskilled labor jobs (as in, where you don’t even have to know how to read) for that economy to work in 2025. It worked back then because they did.

Kind of hard to sustain a middle class that way.

Call me a lib but there are many other destinations that our tax monies are going to that should be addressed before we got to that. Namely the billions going overseas to Ukraine, Israel and now Argentina.

Yes it's a waste but like others have said, it's political suicide to let this expire with no backup plan.

Maybe she should spend her energy drafting a bill that would fix health insurance

Nah, that would require work. It's easier to finger point and grandstand via posts on social media for her followers to see, rather than actually do anything. Massie has shown her the way...

And you understand that if those tax credits are done away with, then the dems will gain control the House in 2026 and the Senate and Presidency in 2028, right?

So, Republicans should give away the treasury to buy votes like the democrats?

My health insurance is 1700 a month. If they get rid of the credits. I will not have insurance for Me my wife or 2 kids. The only people upset about credits now are people with company insurance plans.

Before Obama my family insurance was 35o to 550 depending on what I wanted. Obama fricked all of us now I dont know how you fix it without putting my family and others outside of the Healthcare system.

It seems that the Health insurance industry has hardened itself to the point Congress views them like oil companies. I believe they see health insurance as too big to fail now, when in reality they need to fail.

Health insurance companies have grown too big in every aspect of the business. Have too much involvement in dictating laws and processes that only protects them and sends more money to them. The patients and care providers are the only ones losing.

Why you always worried about blacks.

Worry about you and your community. Trump ain’t black. Worry about him and his cronies. Blacks aren’t the problem.

Whites create the jobs and pay the most taxes so it’s your country. Blame the man in the mirror.

Blacks ARE the problem. They vote as a monolith for Dems, so are 'rewarded' for their loyalty by ignoring their culture of criminal behavior

Nope... but if the are going to do away with the increased credits... or the credits altogether, then they need to have a viable alternative in place that will help keep health insurance costs lower... for everyone, not just those on the exchange.
