City of 10m+ people? 140+ cases.

It’s like the Texas Ranger’s “one riot one ranger” rule.

Still poor reporting from MSNBC, they framed it that way so people who arent actually going to think about it, or look twice, will just say 15-20% of whole population.

If you listen to the clip, it appears this is in the context of nursing homes and the elderly. That’s what he was talking about before he said it and that’s what he was talking about after he said it.

Mediaite is the one making it into a general population claim.

I think most people recognize that. And that 80% of people infected, won’t seek medical help.

Regardless of what they were referring to, CNN is literally saying Global pandemic like a fricking zombie apocalypse. If you don’t think this is a ploy to put off on Trump you are blind. They have attacked him since day 1 in office and all our economy has done is rise since he’s been in office. It’s sick and completely idiotic.

FCC should take them off the air.
MSNBC is a cable only network. Unless the law has recently changed, the FCC does not have regulatory authority over cable networks because they don't broadcast using the over-the-air radio frequency spectrum.

It's why HBO and the other cable only movie networks can show nudity without worrying about complying with the FCC's indecency regulations but an over-the-air network can't.

And it’s still too high. The death rate for people over 80 with a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Wuhan was 14%ish. I’d bet we beat that by a ways.

MSNBC believe that trump should get in a boxing ring with the Corona virus and beat that damn virus up.

Well at least Trump is establishing hard facts for us.

Everyone should agree that the flu killed 37,000 last year now.

This is what’s so crazy about the argument.

Everything is “fake” so we now have to wait on Trumps numbers. Some of us are actually interested in the real numbers.

It makes more sense why you guys think the media is out to get you as you seek out confirmation bias. The subject of this thread is wrong but it won’t ever be corrected and the thread won’t be anchored, so plenty of people will actually think that MSNBC predicts a 20% death rate.

Would you like to address the fact that even their “nuanced” view is likely incorrect as well?

Someone posted a link last night that said 85% of persons who actually become infected by CV-19 will never know they had it. They will just think they had a sinus infection or allergy problem and will carry on with their normal daily life and never see a doctor.

That's one of the reasons the mortality rate % is so unreliable. The reported "number of cases" figure in the denominator of the mortality ratio is significantly less than the actual number of infection cases.

Imagine 20% of the elderly being wiped out wouldn't cause panic. That's 14 million dead in this country alone.

According to the CDC, in 2016 there were only 1.7 million people in Nursing Homes.

20% of that is 340,000.

20% will never be the case in the US, it will be much much lower. Unfortunately, we'll never get an accurate number on how many cases there actually are. The reported numbers will be much lower than actual, so the reported death rate will always be higher than the actual.
