There's a new development in the saga over whether Gov. John Bel Edwards rejected the appointment of the wife of one of his critics out of revenge. The governor has been accused by Sheriff Steve Prator of rejecting his wife Carolyn Prator's nomination to the Red River Waterway Commission because of the sheriff’s criticism of Edwards’ criminal justice reform legislation. Edwards has denied several times through his spokesperson that revenge was his motive.

But now a member of the governor's own party, Shreveport state Sen. Greg Tarver, says he knows Edwards rejected Prator's nomination out of revenge because the governor told him so.

Obligatory thanks to Republicans who voted for him again. Crony louisiana politics are alive and well.

"The comments made by Sen. Tarver are absolutely false. The governor did not say anything along those lines," Sanford told KTBS-TV in Shreveport.

"I wouldn't give a s*** what she says. It's what he said to me, " Tarver told me in response to Sanford.

Rats jumping off a sinking ship.

Imagine calling yourself a conservative and having voted for the political twin of Edwin Edwards in JBE while shitting on a senator that was remarkably conservative for Louisiana.

If I was one of those JBE republicans, I would need at least 2-3 showers a day to get the stink off of me.

One of my siblings and SO voted for JBE, down right pathetic. The SO actually worked for JBE campaign. Double pathetic. The SO did it for selfish reasons....."look at me!" "I'm so important that JBE reached out to me!" "I'm so great!" Triple pathetic!

Not only this but then continue to defend your vote after everything that has happened. Unbelievable.

They're pretty much reduced to to deflecting the blame away from JBE by hiding or shitting on Vitter more.

That's like bashing your ex boyfriend for being late to special occasions when your current boyfriend still keeps cheating on you.

It's pathetic and completely abandons the responsibility voters have with whatever a politician does in office as what he does there, is on them and their decision to elect him in the first place.

Tarver? I guess the CBC didn’t get enough of a payoff to cover for JBE.

Maybe this is payback for something JBE did that hurt the funeral home business considering that the Tarvers are undertakers.

Trump made no pretense about his moral character. He didn't run any ads about his code of ethics. So most attacks on him along those lines don't seem to stick.

That honor code ad of JBE will come back bite him bad in the next election.

I will never understand the reasons why Louisiana Republicans voted for this charlatan.

Unless they can point to one vote David Vitter made in the senate and argue against it, they don't have a leg to stand on.

Actually I want their morals to leave my wallet alone along with getting the frick out of the way of the private sector here in Louisiana.

We can't afford their morals. It's too expensive. They had no business signing a check at the ballot box we cannot afford back in 2015.

The next legislative session is going to be interesting to watch. It's either going to be one of the wildest-or lamest-ever. A ton of term limit turnover and a Governor in an election year with a ton of knives at his back.

A hyperpartisan Senate & House at the State Level with a Black Caucus who appeared more ready than ever to break with the Democratic establishment to blaze their own trail prior to eating yet another sales tax fix.

A fix which they claim is regressive on their communities...and yet voted for anyway. Pretty sure they're fed up. As are the Republicans. Yet I still don't see a credible challenger out there announced yet to oppose JBE.

Don't tell me Jeff Landry is running. He's not going to defeat JBE. He won't play well enough outside of Acadiana compared to JBE.

What is amazing is Vitter would have been the perfect governor for the issues we are having now.

Look those Edwards are slimy politicians. Everything they do is because of politics. Their every thought is impacted by politics. That said some of them are just dumb.

His tort reform proposals were awesome and would've gone a meaningful long way in fighting lawsuit abuse here in Louisiana.

Those proposals freaked out the trial lawyers and ambulance chasers so bad they ponied up millions for JBE as it threatened their cash cows.

A shame we missed that opportunity as it would've lead to real economic reforms.

JBE screwed the pooch on his handling of the Flood of 2016 "Restore" program. So much graft, so little assistance.
