From the top rope
Hell, not long ago, after the Hamas thing, there was a viral thing going around where all these younger progressives were sharing and reading and reacting to Osama Bin Ladin's "Letter to America".
And praising it. And saying they understood why they did 9/11 now.
Such short memories

Twitter is rolling out View Count, so you can see how many times a tweet has been seen! This is normal for video.
Shows how much more alive Twitter is than it may seem, as over 90% of Twitter users read, but don’t tweet, reply or like, as those are public actions.

Anyone who views your Tweet counts as a view, regardless of where they see your Tweet (e.g. Home, Search, Profiles, Tweets embedded in articles, etc.) or whether or not they follow you. Even an author looking at their own Tweet counts as a view.
Views are just a metric to see how many people are seeing a tweet. It does not mean people actually clicked on it and watched it. The majority were just like me, they saw the tweet and scrolled right past it. But hey, I guess I watched it too.

The media apparatus is full on press fact-checking the interview. if no one watched it, why go through this?

Not really.
For some reason, we are now having to explain to people that the world is not flat.
Modern Society is shite.

Crazy how many people are melting over Tucker interviewing putin.
Most likely never knowing Barbara Walters interviewed Castro.

This thread is more focused on the OPS misconception that the number on his Twitter feed means more people watched this interview than the super bowl.

Whether or not you like Tucker Carlson, you gotta admit the guys a marketing genius. Everything he does or says goes viral.

Where did I say no one watched? I don't doubt that a ton of people watched. But it wasn't more than the super bowl (I assume we're talking last year). And if we're using the view metric to determine how many people "watched it", the Super Bowl number would blow this interview out of the water.
I'm not hating on the interview or Tucker, I didn't watch it, I'm just simply stating that to think that that many people watched it, or even clicked on the video and viewed it for 15 seconds of a 2 hour interview, is ridiculous.

It would be akin to counting everyone walking past a restaurant that was showing the super bowl inside.

I posted a link to Dan Rather’s interview of that camel fricker in Iraq.
I think the difference is that people viewed Barbara Walters and Dan Rather as journalists trying to be objective.
Tucker Carlson - by his own admission - has said that no reasonable person who tuned into his show expected to hear the truth.
I’ll also say that, other than far out fringe extremist, there was no mass support expressed or implied for what Castro/Sadaam said.
