So do we get to clawback the fair value of all welfare and benefits they've received since the "Great Society" started? I think that bill looks something like $22 trillion cumulatively.

No. No. No.
AOC says the GOVERNMENT will pay for it all. It won't cost the citizens anything.

Reparations - $14.5 TRILLION

I hadn’t seen an actual number attached to the reparations talk yet. Are they putting forth a one time payment or some other scheme?

It's a complete Comedy that the Dems do have a good chance of putting Trump out of office and replacing him with a Dem.

I don't understand why a middle ground can't be found with these student loans.

Free is absolutely absurd.

The way the situation is now is terrible though. The youth of America who don't have mommy and daddy buying everything for them come out with a massive albatross around their neck.

The interest rates on these loans need to be 3% or less.

Universities and colleges need limits on how much they can increase costs from year to year.

Companies need to be able to offer incentives to employees. The company pays off so much of your loans per paycheck then at the end of the year the companies get a special tax write off for doing this.

Nice. What about all the military cuts
According to usspending.com, by the end of FY 2019 we will have spend roughly $685 billion on the US military, another $201 billion on veterans benefits, and $54 billion on foreign aid, for a grand total of $940 billion on defense (not including any 'black budget/off-budget' expenditures, of course.

We could close down all of our military bases, abandon our personnel and equipment in place, shut down all the VA hospitals, and eliminate all foreign aid immediately, and we still wouldn't have enough to even forgive the existing $1.5 trillion in student debt.

But if that's the way you want to go, I suggest you vote for someone who will do that.

Good thing they have more money than they could spend with 10 lifetimes.

To be fair youre comparing apples to oranges here.

That $1.5 trillion is total US student loan debt.

The $940 Billion is the yearly budget for DOD.

One is a yearly line item, the other is a total.

Out of curiosity, when you make large purchases do you pay in a lump sum? Or do you borrow money for the big purchase so that you can evenly pay that amount over several years?

I guess if you have no idea how our economy operates you might assume the US would need to pay it all back, in one large lump sum, from the budget in a single year.
