So if 354 million came through the open borders we should just go after the maybe 1 million that have been convicted of a crime. Do you realize they could have taken over our country in population? Yes, this is an extreme example. But some people think that 20 million is ok to be here illegally. If Kamala would have won that could have been a possibility.

It's code for doing nothing. You generally cannot get permanent residency while you are here illegally. It can happen, but extremely rare.

She may have had temporary residency or student visa that lapsed. This stuff isn’t as simple as everyone thinks. Not all immigrants with citizenship issues are just living off grid.

There isn’t anything to suggest that the family snuck in or was trying to hide it.

If their status was being actively litigated, there is no reason they need to be in a detention center. Just litigate it.

Bro that’s like the entire US population. I think there are like 20-40M illegals in total.

ETA: I’m not surprised by DVs in general, but why here? These are just numbers & I’m using figures that are on the high end of estimations. Most media would tell you 10-12M

The point is we can accomplish mass deportation of bad actors without doing this. It’s just not necessary & frankly it is counterproductive + gives the pro-illegal extremists a lot of ammo. It also costs public money.

No actually we can’t. Too many are here and it would take years to check everyone out. You come legally or you go. Blame the parents and the cartels. Hurt for the kids, but let them learn a valuable lesson.

No one on this board knows if she is in the US legally or not.

She has brown skin and in this boards racist opinion that is enough to ship her out of this country. This board is littered with disgusting people who have a hive mind mentality.

The stated intent was to deport CRIMINALS. There is nothing to show that this girl has ever engaged in a crminal activity. Nothing.

What part of this is unclear to you?

Not sure what point you are trying to make. "Sneaking in" is irrelevant. Abuse of short-term visas is the predominate way for illegals to enter and stay in the country, far exceeding illegal border crossings.

Just because you legally came to the United States, does not mean you are currently here legally. It does not give you an elevated status. These people are not better than border crossers. In fact, many are worse, because they are abusing a legitimate system.

Very few people are actually against (key word here) deporting illegals, but a lot of people are against this. Too many folks here falsely believe that Visas or procedural technicalities / issues pending legal resolution are not real, and that none of those people wind up in prisons.
too many motherfrickers sit around and wait years to fix this paperwork only to raise a fit when they were caught.

I have lived as an immigrant in two separate countries for work. If you are not compliant with their immigration laws, you are arrested. Why should the USA not enforce our immigration laws?

I'm going to use my context clues and say that she is not.

What a lazy fricking argument. I don't care if she is from Ireland.

I mean she was detained in her home & sent to a detention center here. Immigration court and DHS can do whatever they want right now. Hopefully they do the right thing.

Don't worry, they'll kick her illegal arse out of here.

I don’t see them claiming she was here legally. So basic math says she is illegal. She provided nothing to ICE to show otherwise. And people keep saying the stated intent was to deport only criminals. No, it was to target them.

If she was here legally, that would be stated in the article that was pleading on her behalf.

This is a complete aside, but why are non-citizens allowed to use public education?

It would most likely be allowed to play out in court, then if it didn’t go your way you would be asked to leave or deported. At no point would the process be interrupted where you find yourself in a detention center.

That’s how it works most places that don’t have travel advisories or known issues anyway.

I’m not saying open the border. Again, I like the idea of ICE but I feel like overextending is just going to backfire.

This is millions of people that would take years of court proceedings. Might as well just encourage open borders if you are for that.
