Did the model include when trading partners drop their tariffs to zero and we respond with zero (i.e., reciprocity)?

I'm the one consistently arguing for policies and plans to reduce government, especially in the markets. Why do you associate this with being a "lib"?

They seem to have forgotten the flood of investments coming in to take advantage of no tariffs on domestically produced goods.

Viet Nam dropped their tariffs completely on American products. Evidently, they are angling for some of those factories fleeing China.

Barry didn't say "those manufacturing jobs aren't coming back"? If manufacturing are overseas and the company opens up factories here to employ American workers. Seems to me that is jobs coming back and a good thing. Would the 3Trillion investment be happening without the tariffs? I'd say no, or they would have happened under biden.

Perhaps. But cheaper is good right? Competition allows our products a fight chance.

Depends on if companies are going to actually lower their prices, or if they will keep them the same and just profit more.

Yeah but I did that for 15 years without anyone questioning my economic positions, or if those positions were "lib" or not.

It's only since 2016 that this view has been flipped by posters like you.

What happened in 2016 to make y'all 180?

It doesn't appear that this policy is about reciprocal tariffs, given that the calculations were done based on trade deficit.

The Swiss government has already come out with a "the frick are you talking about" statement because they haven't had tariffs in over a year: LINK

Switzerland received a 31% tariff because of a trade deficit

quote:

Switzerland abolished all industrial tariffs as of 1 January 2024. This means that 99 per cent of all goods from the USA can be imported into Switzerland duty-free. Switzerland does not provide market-distorting industrial subsidies. The goods trade surplus is mainly attributable to exports from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and the gold trade. The USA is the largest recipient of Swiss direct investment.

What about pompous, pretentious, condescending, arrogant, know-it-all and smug economic conservatives/libertarians?

Perhaps. Someone takes care of those automation machines right? They're not self-healing, self-maintaining and self-repairing. Sounds like people will need to be hired to maintain those automation machines. If those factories weren't here, those jobs wouldn't exist.

How the hell do they come up with this number?

Those don't exist. They may claim to be conservatives, but if they act like that they are liberals. Kinda like straight guys that sleep with other guys do not exist. If they engage in the activity of sleeping with other guys, they are not straight. No matter how much they argue that they are.
