They should eliminate food stamps and replace it with beer stamps for hardworking americans like me

Why do we help the poor when they will always be poor and most of them are not interested in doing anything to change their life? They just wait for the next handout. Help should be given to those who earn it, regardless of need.

There are already a lot of community based food programs like the Food Bank and individual food Pantries located in more rural areas. There is the council on Aging and church affiliated groups that feed the hungry.

The schools provide a least 2 meals a day for any child who asks.

I don't think there are many who go under fed unless, like has been mentioned, they are addicts or homeless folks with mental issues..

The fraud is sickening..

The food bank? You mean the place where people with Cadillacs and fake nails go to complain about the free food they get?

It didn't feed me either. You know what it did? Kept me real skinny. I'm now 5-8, 130 lbs. The people I see with food stamps are obese.

I've never seen that happen in real life. Have you? Now, I've seen smart kids mock stupid kids. I've done that all my life. It's fun.

Didn't make me obese, don't know what to tell you.

Even if I didn't have my own personal experiences, Dolly Parton (RIP) has a whole arse song about other richer kids making fun of her coat of many colors.

You will see enrollment plummet more now that states have to foot the bill.

With the new work rules you saw enrollment reduced drastically in some states and very little in others (which is not possible unless they are just ignoring the new regs).

Imagine what would happen to medicare/caid if states had to pay the full nut. You would see half a trillion saved at least.

Nope. Skinny used to be normal. You can look at HS senior class photos from the 1950s and 60s and see Zero fat kids. Obesity is a modern thing in America. It started with food stamps. Maybe it was just a coincidence.

Should be on the states, so this is a good thing.

But is this going to result in a decrease in government spending and debt?

If not, then wtf.

It's because the FDA came out with the food pyramid and loaded everyone up on carbs and sugar while telling them eating fat made you fat.

In reality, eating fat/protein makes you skinny and eating carbs makes you fat.

Glucose also damages your arteries and the cholesterol builds up trying to repair it. But they blamed fat for it instead.

It's also the primary drive in most metabolic/inflammation based chronic diseases.

Good. Get rid of SNAP all together. If deadbeat parents can’t feed their kids then the state can take them away and put them with a family that does. Once people realize big daddy government won’t feed their kids, they will stop having them. Will help the taxpayer out too.

I want them to blow it all up anyway. We should be handing out generic food to those that need it, not giving them a blank check to go splurge with all the snacks and high end meats. It is bs. That doesn't lead to them wanting to fend for themselves, it just promotes a failed program.

I have commented before how Food Stamps should transition into a WIC based system where you get a certain amount of items and sizes to buy. But stores may get wise to this and purposely charge more for those items to maximize profit. I can remember growing up on WIC and you couldn’t buy just any cereal. You had to buy the more expensive and less flavorful Life and Kix cereals.

I also conjured up a new type of store that could replace food stamps. Make it government run store like an ABC store, where it is the only place that accepts food stamps. To get in you have to recertify your benefit status.

If that is a bit much, maybe partner with a store and be the only grocer that accepts food stamps. Instead of checking out at the regular registers, you have to go to a special register where either a government worker or contractor rings up the groceries and does a benefits qualification check at time of purchase.

I have no issues with food stamps, but SNAP cards need to be eliminated. Stamps should have to be used in person, and should only be good for just enough staple food to get the family by. No one on food stamps should be eating better than a working American
