I should have stated that more clearly. The mayor requested the assistance although I don’t see Trump’s direct approval mentioned.

It is freaking weird that Trump would have ordered all these NG and barricades, etc. without making a big show about how “safe” he’s keeping Biden.
It’s also weird that we need a full on military presence for a Zoom call. I don’t remember this before any other Presidential inauguration but maybe I wasn't paying attention and this is normal security for it.

This isn't that though. There are far more than the DC guard there. There are troops from all 50 states involved in this.

Well... having lived in DC I can answer part of this.
Believe it or not 15k National Guardsmen will be hard pressed to present a large show of force throughout DC because you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a massive government building. And they need to guard those buildings 24 hours a day.
The Capitol Police Force is, to be frank, broken right now. DC itself is carved up into little police fiefdoms so the DC PD probably only has access to something like 50 percent of the city.
If you want to keep trouble from breaking out you don't go with the absolute minimum amount of personnel you think will do the job. You go with a modified version of the Powell Doctrine. You use over whelming force and keep crazed dingbats from doing stupid things.
This is what they did during the BLM protests but they brought in the Border Patrol and the Bureau of Prisons personnel as well as Guardsmen.

There were flyers posted for an armed protest on the 17th in DC & 50 States. Ultimately Milley decided, but Trump would had to have ordered it or else he looked even worse after he was accused of inciting.
Pelosi ordered a hack never Trumper General to oversee. Pelosi is ordering like she is a Queen and powers of the executive branch as she ordered the R's that spoke out on the Biden voter fraud---- to be criminally found as seditious.

Mass arrests. As far as who made the decision? Hard to say. Trump has, for the most part, stayed out of this stuff. All I know is that they're all about to be rounded up.

BoarEd, unfortunately that picture is misleading. It was cropped. The building in the background is the Longfellow Building i believe. The Capitol building is to the right. The bolts are actually inside the fence, not outside. Just an fyi.
