He is is looking at the war as something that allows him to try to expand executive authority on a wartime footing.
That includes elections.
Yes, Trump lost focus on cost of living and economic conditions. And he doesn’t want to reverse course there. His focus is on trying to establish the conditions for the midterms.

The mullahs who are psychopathic religious nuts who don’t care if their people die and have already demonstrated that they can survive our air campaign believe they’re in an existential religious conflict with the Jews and their American golem. They have all the leverage right now because Trump wants to end it for political purposes but they’re happy to let him remain in limbo between the conflicting and in some cases unattainable war goals he outlined at various points.
I hope we find an excuse to walk away before we get roped into doubling down.
