The argument for a capella singing in worship is made from the lack of scriptural warrant for musical accompaniment in the New Testament combined with the music of the Old Testament worship being tied to the sacrifices which have been abolished with Christ’s death on the cross.
But like I said, this is debated and not largely agreed upon. The RPW is certainly helpful in many other ways by keeping man-made inventions out of worship.
