All of the ME nations are looking to by pass the strait. That effort is well underway. Iraq is the latest nation looking to by pass them with the help of other ME nations that are fast tracking it.

Understand the plan?

They can only divert a fraction through bypass infrastructure, which could also become targets if this escalates more.

President Trump mentioned building a 500 mile pipeline to replace the Straight of Hormuz.

Takes the Iranian tyrants out of the equation.

Why wouldn’t the Iranians just target the pipeline?

A 500-mile pipeline is great, but can it be built before the world economy collapses?

Iraq and other countries were talking about this when all this shite started in March. I haven't kept up to know if any ground has broken yet.

That said, building a 500 mile pipeline, while seems like a good plan for backups and such, is a hell of a lengthy undertaking from when you can start trenching, to stringing pipe, to commissioning. That's not going to resolve the current issues any time soon.

Do you mean, can it be built before a Democrat administration?

Wouldn't it be easier to just kill their goats? Then, when they come out to fine another goat, take them down.

They love their goats. Baaaaaaaaaaa!!

They will. In fact, they did. Now their efforts to do that has been neutered.

Iran's tech is nowhere near the USA's.

It would collapse years before that would be possible if things keep up the way they were pre-MOU

There are already pieplines. Example Saudi built one decades ago for this exact issue. Now they have double it's capacity. UA, same.

The world economy will be fine. The strait has been reopened by Trump and we’re now “ THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,' but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the World. The process and formation will begin immediately.”

So there is no reason for this pipeline.

How is non-Iranian traffic doing today through the SOH?

It's not being a diva.

China and the US propped up the world during the Iranian closure of the SOH and, even then, supplies were in the danger zone internationally.

I can find reporting on this if you'd like, or use Trump's own words if you'd prefer.

Alaskan pipeline thru much worse terrain and elements went over 700 miles in 3 years from planning to final weld. That was in 1977

I can easily see this done in a year with all parties on board. Worse case, let's say 1.5
