If pipelines were a more efficient, safer and cheaper way to move the oil out of the ME it would have been done 50 years ago.

That is not sound reasoning because it doesn’t consider the fact that the risks of tanker transport through the Strait of Hormuz have recently changed dramatically.

True. Because we started a war we didn’t have the balls to win and now Iran is making the United States look like a bunch of bitches.

I'd read Qatar and UAE are supposed to build pipelines to the Red Sea (with Saudi permission) and avoid the Strait altogether.

The SoH could be completely closed tomorrow and the “World Economy” wouldn’t “collapse”.

Hyperbole much?

That’s like saying a bank shouldn’t get a bigger and stronger safe cause the crooks will just use a bigger bomb to blow it open.

You build it and use it and if war erupts you defend it. Pipes can be replaced faster than ships unsunk

Why wouldn’t the Iranians just target the pipeline?

They could, but FAFO.

Where will this new pipeline be? How long will it take to build? Who’s gonna build it? Why haven’t they built one before? Why does everyone still use ships to move their oil?

You were sound until this paragraph. The pipeline construction is a piece of cake, and in an emergency, it could probably be done in six months. The reason they haven’t built one before is that there was no reason to undergo the additional expense. Now there is a reason. And the reason people use ships is because they are shipping it overseas.

I mean they have shut down the strait multiple times in the last month.

I think if we could easily make them find out they would have by now

Huh? This is a joke right? Pipeline building for chemical or petroleum is as busy as it ever been in the industry. You really think we need an engineer or welder from 1977? Da fuq

What skill.exactly do you think isnt available?

All of the ME nations are looking to by pass the strait. That effort is well underway. Iraq is the latest nation looking to by pass them with the help of other ME nations that are fast tracking it. Understand the plan?

Neighboring countries should take parts of Iranian land that border theirs.
