McConnell explains how an impeachment trial would consume the first days of Biden’s presidency.
This is DC code for we made a deal with Trump-he can leave but the republicans orphan him.

Glad to see that. Hopefully this will dissuade them from pursuing it.

Mickey. I do like you.

But it is endlessly frustrating to conservatives like myself, who don’t understand how people like you can realize how dangerous this is, but spent 4 years in a freak out and wanted the President thrown out of office bc of unspecified obnoxious behavior.

The reason most Trump supporters don’t have a problem with the mean tweets and the two scoops or the stupid nicknames is that this kind of draconian tyrannical conduct is the alternative. I cannot once recall this level of actual overreach by Trump. Not one.

This is dangerous. This whole thing is dangerous. The Parler thing, the Twitter suspension rampage and impeachment over nothing.

I thought for about 45 minutes yesterday after Trump made his speech that my fears of a fraudulent election recurring were unfounded and that things may suck and taxes would go up but we would be OK in 2 yrs.

But not anymore. I am an ordinary private citizen and I jusf deleted and anonymous Twitter account bc I fear personal and professional retribution from my government and mobs of lunatics simply bc of who I supported for President.

I hope you realize that people who disagree with you and your political party have no lawful means for civic discourse or redress of grievances. The alternatives are frightening.

On 1/20 he will not be sitting therefore the impeachment then becomes null and void.

is that necessarily true?

i'd think that if articles are brought, the Senate is required to vote. if they vote to convict, they can just say it's retroactive to January 19th

and they can vote to convict without the talking point that they'd be removing him, since Biden will be inaugurated before any vote

Third Party has GOT to be on its way. I’d say the electorate at this point is 30 percent leftist crazy

Ten Percent Country Club Republican

With the remaining 60 percent up for grabs.

When Trump starts a 3rd party, the GOP is dead. I just hope there are enough Sane Democrats to join too.

An impeached and convicted president cannot run for public office ever again. He also loses all the perks of post-presidency, including a secret service detail.

That would leave him wide open for your antifa buddies and wackos. Congrats.

Maybe you freaks can drag his dead body through the streets.

By the looks of it, as long as they start the proceedings before he leaves office, they can keep going until it's finished, even of his term is up.

After seeing a million Trump supporters flood DC - in the dead of Winter - on short notice, I doubt there is ANY appetite to vote on this matter in congress.

This entire political process has been an assault on the tens of millions who support Trump as much as Trump himself.

The elite are feeling the heat everywhere they go. Not violence, but disgust and public derision.

If he is impeached he is ineligible to run in 2024. Joe Biden is 78 and will be 82. He will not run again if he even makes it til then. It will be a crazy, deep Republican field.

Republican Congressman and Senators will be more inclined to impeach him now as it would eliminate the main competition and there would be a lot less political blow back .

That is possible but they would have to include that stuff specifically in the filings.

It is also possible for a small (1/3 +1) contingent of Senators to refuse to deal with the process and thus completely tie up ALL Senate business activities for as long as they hold out finalizing the process.

Theoretically, 35 Senators, standing in unity right after swearing in for a 6 year term, could halt all Senate business (including action against a Foreign Attack/Invasion) for their entire 6 year term by refusing to address the Impeachment! No committee actions, no committee reports, no committee hearings, No BUDGET nor omnibus bill (resulting in fed shutdown), no law passage/bill resolutions, nothing, nada, zip, until impeachment process is concluded. Senators serve 2 years longer than POTUS/VP per election.

They could theoretically prevent Corrupt Joe and the Whore from enacting any legislation at all if the impeachment articles are transmitted to the Senate!

Stop me if you've heard Chuckles the Clown say this before: Nothing is off the table!

McConnell blocked impeachment. For now.

But the Dems will push because they want Trump disqualified for 2024.

Trump may be better off with his own security. The secret service didn't help the Kennedy's all that much.

I never supported him being removed from office. I think that should be reserved for much more serious situations.

I totally understand where you’re coming from, and honestly it worries me too. I do have concerns that what is going on right now is pushing things too far.
