Explain to this to me like I’m a reptilian lizard man who doesn’t understand the point of impeaching a president who is no longer holding office

To tarnish his name. Embarrass him. They know he is still a threat to them for 2024

Glad to see that. Hopefully this will dissuade them from pursuing it.

To clarify, you do not want them to impeach correct?

Please Kentucky,

Get rid of this pile of stinking, treason crap. Whether he pretends to be for or against Trump, Mitch McConnell is shite.

As far as I am aware the impeachment rules in the constitution are for a sitting president. On 1/20 he will not be sitting therefore the impeachment then becomes null and void. Cocaine Mitch is basically telling them to pound sand and the Senate can't even start this BS before 1/20 when he will no longer be president.

Conviction can mean forbidden from Holding Political Office in the future. They still need 60 votes for that in the Senate.

BTW, if the Articles of Impeachment are transmitted to the Senate then ALL other Senate activity is completely halted until the entire Impeachment is concluded. If enough Senators want to, they can keep the Senate immobile for as long as they desire.

Basically they can impeach him, but he is not going to be tried in the Senate from how it reads.

None of these Congressman think Trump actually did anything out of line. They are just playing politics like they always do.

Some loons and professional agitators went rogue and broke the law. Trump has never condoned anything outside of law & order.

Isn’t it 67 for conviction?

Would LOVE to see both houses hold a roll-call vote on this petty, vindictive measure.

he is such a Turtle.

he basically says they are on break and can only do business on Jan 19. They would need 100 votes to call everyone in earlier.

these people are all insane with their tactics. I think they get off banging gavels.

Yes. Majority in the house, 2/3 in the Senate.

By the looks of it, as long as they start the proceedings before he leaves office, they can keep going until it's finished, even of his term is up.
