This is a continuation of the Wisner Trust drama I posted about recently: Removing any lingering illusion of propriety, Cantrell appeals ruling to give City cash

quote:

Mayor LaToya Cantrell on Monday vetoed $20 million New Orleans had promised for renovations to Charity Hospital, deepening a feud over the city's right to proceeds from a donated swath of oil-rich Louisiana coastline.

The city's $20 million pledge to Tulane University, which plans to turn the long-vacant Depression-era hospital into a new research center, emerged from negotiations over who should receive proceeds from the 38,000-acre plot around Port Fourchon, which is owned by the Wisner Trust. Tulane is one of several legacy recipients of money generated by that land.

Tulane is one of several legacy recipients of money generated by that land.

The council's $20 million pledge followed a judge's order in late May identifying the city as the trust's sole recipient. It formed part of a broader deal meant to end the legal feud and advance plans for renovations to Charity Hospital, which has sat vacant since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The veto is likely to be overridden. Still, it represents yet another clash between the mayor and the City Council during her acrimonious second term.

Interesting theory.

Here is one for you to start a thread about to test out your theory

You are signaling that virtue HARD today from your lily white land!

You get a kudos email from someone for it after you send in the exchanges?

Wasn’t there some issues with the way the mayor’s office was using trust money? Seems like I heard something along those lines several years.

$20 million to renovate Charity? Doesn’t that seem low?

You're probably thinking of the court cases appealing the ending of the trust back in 2014. The court ruled that the trust ended according to Wisner's will. The heirs appealed it and the appellate court sided with the will.

The mayor is saying that the heirs should maintain control of the revenue generated by the trust instead of the city, like Wisner's will decreed.

I don't think that amount is supposed to cover the total cost. I think it's just a settlement to appease Tulane since they are getting cut out of the Wisner Trust.

The city's pledge would cover only a fraction of the facility's full cost: Renovating the hulking hospital is estimated to carry a price tag of $650 million.

I can repost a thread of a fat black lady calling time racist during a TED talk. She is hard to understand unless you know Ebonics and also because she is so winded walking around a small area on stage that she’s breathing like she just finished a 100 yard dash.

She may be the reason the phrase meat sweats was created.

Serious question: how does one get and keep an erection long enough to keep procreating with this sea creature? There are not enough peptides, viagra, etc, to even get my boy to move with the thought of inserting him in that crevasse. Popcicle sticks and masking tape wouldn't even work,

Why would you post that here? Why are you scrolling Twitter looking for that type of content to consume?
