I thought this board loves executive orders. I guess it depends on who's issuing them...

There is no proof that random masks and cloth used for a mask can trap this virus.

it's not about "Trapping" it. it's not a perfect solution because there is not one available

it certainly does decrease the amount of viral load released, which is the point. nobody is saying it will eliminate it

it's a personal responsibility to try to ensure that if you're asymptomatic positive, that you reduce the chance of spread to others. if this was a burdensome request, i'd get it, but a mask is not

why are you so against relying on personal responsibility to take very reasonable steps to protect other people?

That isn't even slightly constitutional.

Not far enough. She needed to lock down nonessential businesses again.

Armchair psychology could say these people feel powerless in a rapidly changing world, and it’s their grasp at trying to assert what little power they feel they have.

It's a stupid request

Communicable diseases have existed for your entire life. If your logic held up then you should have been wearing masks for your entire life and even after coronavirus has done you should continue wearing masks

Blunt reality is that at some point in your life there's a pretty good chance you have given somebody a communicable disease that was then passed on to some susceptible person who eventually died

Under the Absurd Paradigm we have created you killed that person

And for my entire life, if there are diseases for which there are few known treatments, we have tried to keep those diseases from spreading. Also, in cases where the cost/benefit ratio dictates, we implement practices to prevent the spread (i.e. condoms)

every person who has ever died from a communicable disease caught it from somebody

You should wear a mask for the rest of your life. If you don't you're a hypocrite

Recent studies show masks catch droplets better than no mask. Simple.

Recent, better conducted studies, demonstrate that improvised cloth face masks that aren't fitted can be as low as 5% effective which is statistically insignificant in protecting a person from aerosolized transmission.

Thank you. Very succinct. I’ll be using this in numerous debates with extreme virtue-signalers moving forward. Gonna be accusing them of murdering gram and gramps their whole lives.

It amazes me that some people out here in St George think we somehow have gotten away from City-Parish government. Broome is still our Parish President and will continue to be. All the city of St George will do is add another layer of taxation on us.

It amazes me that some individuals would rather have the entire parish govern all of their local affairs than govern some of their local affairs for themselves.
If you want a pothole fixed, or a ditch cleaned do you want to get in line with 400,000 citizens of 80,000 citizens? When you pay parish taxes can you watch your taxes better the parish treasury or a smaller treasury like SG?
And I don’t hear anyone at SG talking about another layer of taxes. They are just talking about rededicating the taxes we pay now. And if one day they decide we need higher taxes I’d rather see me and my neighbors vote than have the entire parish vote for taxes.

It's principle now.

True viral protection requires actual respirators.

If it was merely harmless, I wouldn't be so put off by this, but a face covering (which did not even block a majority of particles in an Iraqi dust storm), is not only not going to protect anyone from the virus, even if worn properly encourages touching the face, concentrates particles that might be contaminated, etc.

Just bizarre that some folks are just willing to go this way. If you're sick, DON'T GO OUT. If you're scared, DON'T GO OUT or wear a mask if you choose.

I'm neither sick nor scared. No mask for me.

Bizarro world continues.

What is the penalty for not wearing said mask? What if there are multiple offenses?

What are the stipulations for why the mandate is needed? What would rescind said mandate?

If everyone wears a mask and cases continue to rise but the death rate is low or lower what then?
