Round wasn't frangible. The remains that were found showed it to be an old non-bonded bullet.

Why would anyone need to come up with a loadout for the projectile when one can buy them over the counter? Even frangible rounds can be bought over the counter. The round did in fact travel quite a ways through the body and smashed several vertibrea before coming to a rest just below the skin...at least the largest piece did.

Impact shows the individual was not that familiar with the round and the elevation he was firing from. If aiming at chest vitals, the shot would, for a right handed shooter, be high and to the right if elevation were not accounted for or he may not have accounted for the velocity of the lighter grain projectile and the resulting lack of drop at that distance.

People are going through too many mental gymnastics here. Seriously. Kirk is not the first person to be shot with a 30-06 where the bullet did not exit. He will not be the last sadly.
