I agree with the boards thoughts on Gowdy for the most part but House Investigations are pure theatre with no teeth whatsoever.

I have a much bigger issue with Sessions and Barr who had prosecutorial authority yet still did nothing of value.

I was hoping and he was trying to get a pardon but apparently texts/Venmos/two witnesses weren’t enough to do anything….just an example of elitists protecting elitists

Politics aside, Gowdy is brighter asleep than Gaetz on his best day.

Is entertaining to watch the way the majority of this forum turns on politicians. It was not many years ago that Gowdy was the darling of this forum.

I agree with you that Gowdy has more brainpower under the hood. However, I think you're off base calling out the board for turning on Gowdy. He deserves to get turned on. There are many conservative (ish) members of congress who come out strong and end up with their nuts chopped off, who end up having true conservatives turn on them. Crenshaw is another one. Hell Paul Ryan was on fire back in 2012, and he ended up being useless. I think the tendency of conservatives to lose patience with sorry arse politicians is a GOOD thing, unlike the left who tends to march in lockstep. It doesnt help win elections, it's true, so from a pragmatic point of view I guess it's bad - but it's so much better than the blue team / red team bullshite.

that said - I do think the "litmus test" approach of no one ever being conservative enough is garbage.

I'm just picking a sample

I used to think very highly of Gowdy but he's chipped away at that to the point that he can fully go frick himself

Hopefully more voters are becoming aware of the "talk tough and do nothing" politicians.

Trey Howdy is notorious for this tactic.

I don’t hate Gowdy.
I’m just disappointed in his support of the status quo in Washington.

quote:

Like many GOP establishment politicians Gowdy have us hope.

Then he played Lucy like they all do.

Gowdy is wasted talent. For all his verbosity and debate skills he's accomplished very little with respect to holding anyone accountable as he had promised.

All that this whole discussion shows is that talking shite as a minority or oppositional party is a lot different than being a party in power who has to govern.

Gaetz will probably never be in any real position to govern, so he can just sit back as an irrelevant legislator firing shots to keep himself in the press all he wants. Same with people like Bobert.

Gowdy was that person but then was put in a position and actually had to govern and the whole "flamethrower" routine really doesn't work when you have to get hundreds of people on your side of an issue to do anything.

Gaetz would never be able to "do something" like this forum desires

That's the thing. How will you ever get anything close to what you want if you can't win elections?

Otherwise, it's just theater.

None of them can and almost no one recognizes how often this board complains about it. Was Civics discontinued at some point?

conservatives arent getting what we want out of congress anyways. so what's the point of winning elections? theater is what we have had up until now.

Your flamethrower analogy is a good one.

Flamethrowers are fun to watch, if you are a pyromaniac.

But you cannot BUILD anything with a flamethrower.

If I ever want to hear the opinion of a male transitioning into a lesbian grandmother, I will ask Trey Gowdy.

Sounds like Gowdy did his job and the DOJ didn't, nothing has changed since then either

Why waste money with just one branch of gov when you can waste even more money and still hold no one accountable with a second or third investigation?

But they tried! And that's what matters most.
