The John Smith post saying Medicaid or the government will help with burial expenses is false. They'll help broke Veteran's, but the girl killed is clearly not a Veteran.
The family could be doing a money grab by the GofFundMe, but burials are very expensive and unless an autopsy is being done, then you only have so many days before you have to be buried. If not, they'll charge you more for holding the body.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney has officially filed charges against three men accused in a deadly mass shooting at Arcadia Lake last month.
According to court documents, Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna filed murder charges against two men involved in the Arcadia Lake shooting and a third man is facing accessory to murder charges.
Jaylan Davis, 18, was initially arrested on a complaint of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
On Friday, first-degree murder charges were filed against Davis and 21-year-old Daviion Wyckoff for their involvement.
Breonn Morton is charged with accessory to first-degree murder.
Officials said all three are in custody and each have a $10 million bond.
A fourth suspect, identified as Trinity Brown, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm after juvenile adjudication.

23 shot, none of the families actually pay for their own medical care.
This event cost the tax payers millions.
Throw in court costs to prosecute the peeps.
Throw in prison expenses.
We're talking 10 million+ when its all said and done. And not a penny will come from those responsible.

Judging by the many posts from that race regarding the Karmelo Anthony trial a simple nudge is indeed grounds for lethal “self defense”.
