“Our church has a long history of, unfortunately, supporting racial segregation up until 1969,

being active participants in it,” said the Rev. Grey Maggiano, rector of the church that was founded in 1860, on Tuesday (Jan. 26).

“And so we’ve identified a few key areas where we need to make particular amends and atone.”

And the congregants abandon their memberships in a hurry, hopefully! If you're Episcopal, runnnnnnn.....

They’ll raise it by selling of property formerly owned by churches who broke away due to their leftist policies.

This is dumb.

If they thought this would actually help, they'd offer more if they're so troubled by their past transgressions. This is like someone handing a homeless person a nickel: does nothing for him or you, but I guess it makes you look like you care if someone else is watching.

Did the Egyptians ever give the Israelis any reparations?

$500k is a slap in the face to the atrocities that were committed.

Should be 500 million

About 5 or 6 years ago the powers that be at Christ Church (yea, it is episcopalian) in Alexandria, Virginia decided that they just had to remove a plack bolted to the back of the pew where its most famous member, George Washington, sat when he attended church, all because GW killed Indians and owned slaves. Never mind he was our country's first war hero and first president. The powers that be said that "some people" had seen the plack and were offended by it, so they had it removed. I still don't have the proper words to say about this idiot rector.

Why are yankee states so racist? “We feel bad about how we treat blacks, so we’re making a public statement to show our guilt and say “sorry””.

This is how redistribution of wealth needs to be done: as charity.

Nobody is being forced to contribute. If any congregant disagrees with the decision, they’re able to opt out.

Pay attention, marxists.

IHIOGA that Christ Church Lexington, KY is discussing the removal of a plaque noting the membership of Henry Clay.

A church, separate from the state, giving back. Why would any American have a problem with this?

Lol. That's fine, but giving reparations out isn't going to erase slavery from human history or stop what's going on in countries today.

I don't think anyone is suggesting they can't do what they want with their money, just that the "cause" is idiotic. I mean, no one here is going to begrudge your right to support your local wino, but we are going to mock you for doing it.

The Episcopal Church is dead

And it seems like all the Protestant faiths in the US are committing suicide, in one form or another.

And the Catholic Church ... the Pope is flat out mad.

Meanwhile the United States is using all of its political power to divide and break the Orthodox Church, in order to hurt Russia.
