The Democrats have already told you what they're going to do. They didn't "do the right thing" here. They simply came up 2 votes short.

We are at war. They lost the battle. If we end up on the field of battle with the advantage, we better take it, cause if the Dems find those 2 votes, the filibuster is dead. Hence, we might as well be the ones to kill it.

Look at it this way. They just shot at you right between the eyes. We're lucky they missed, but, it's not that they didn't try.

Look, I am not a Pollyanna and think the GOP needs to take some lessons from the Dems relative to party discipline and bare knuckles politics, but such an action would be wholly destructive to the country and completely contrary to the purpose/intent of the Constitution and the prevention of the tyranny of the majority.

I understand the filibuster is a Senate Rule; however, it was (and is) an essential tool in defense of the Constitution and to prevent the USA from devolving into naked mob rule.

Means the establishment in the dems didn’t want either.

These things aren’t brought to a vote without knowing the outcomes

I'm pretty sure this whole thing has been about bolstering Sinema's re-election chances.

Thank God Sinema stood firm in the face of the left making her life a living hell. Manchin too. The left has gone way too far and they needed to be stopped. Today was a good day for America. We need more of these.

I agree. And, the Democrats just did it anyway. Yes, they did take the action. They came up short but that's a LOT different than not trying.

We're already there. We have liberal government officials all the way down to fricking dog catcher operating like dictators right now with "emergency" powers. Basically daring anyone to stop them.

And, no one is.

I don't want mob rule, but if we're gonna have it, it better be my mob

I mean hell, I don't want lonely helicopter rides either but.........

No, it will inevitably backfire when it rallies democrat voters to the polls in the next election cycles and when they get a simple majority back, they’re going to go scorched earth with the nuclear option and Sinema and Manchin will remember they saved the filibuster only for the GOP to put a knife in their back on the same issue later.

Remember Harry Reid and his executive nominee nuclear option? Sure blew up in his face when Trump used it to get 3 SCOTUS justices confirmed

Now the Republicans need to market that they had bipartisan support against the voting act that included Schumer.

It can't "backfire". You ALREADY KNOW they're going to kill it. They just showed you they will. The filibuster is dead. The ONLY question now is, who gets to use that fact first?

Yes, it did. But again, when Reid did that, The Republicans hadn't ALREADY TRIED to do it themselves.

Was Harris even there? If not, it was never going to happen.

I don't think Dems wanted it to happen. If it passed they would have NOTHING to campaign on. Now it will be "help us get rid of evil republicans so you can vote" 24-7. The bills were wildly unpopular.

Manchin told Saban to blow it out his arse

Saban added a note to his signature of the letter saying he supported the filibuster and Manchin's opposition to changing it. The people behind the letter removed that note in the press release, but Manchin talked about it and questioned why it was removed.

I still don't agree with Saban saying anything on the matter, but at least he has that much sense.

Did most on the board share the same sentiment when Trump was begging Mitch to go nuclear or is it only with D’s have the majority?

Fwiw I say go nuclear. It gives all of these arse holes no excuse but to pass legislation or at the very least doesn’t allow politicians to hide but take thought votes, so we know we’re they stand. Think what Trump could have done in his first two years had the filibuster been removed

We just said the democracy would die if they killed the filibuster. So now we gonna kill it?

Is being a hypocrite no longer a thing in politics?

It's just strange. Sinema and Kelly represent the same constituencies. Shouldn't they vote in tandem?
