Lutnick Explains Why Trump's Name is Necessary for Kennedy Center

Lutnick is a great salesman. The WH should have put him front and center from the beginning.
He said that:
-Trump's name on the building is necessary to get Trump involved
-Without Trump as construction manager, the renovations would be too expensive because the Center would have to spend money on hiring a construction manager (seems dubious)
-Trump is the only person in the world who could raise an additional $500 million for the Kennedy Center (well, yeah, while he's president and can sell access...Lutnick didn't need to say that)
One might ask, "Doesn't President Trump have a day job?" But, Trump clearly is more focused, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about building the Ballroom than any other issue. He probably would do a great job.
This might not matter legally, but it was good PR.

Now, that is 1,000% believable.

I could not care less if we had a Kennedy Center or not. Much like the ballroom and the reflecting pool nonsense, this doesn’t move the needle for me in any way.

It was great. None of the reporters even questioned it.
Trump's interests and the national interest aligned = win/win. Good Trump. Best President of my lifetime Trump.

a true all star thread
The building is rotting down and Trump is the first president to address it since when?

I didn't realize this wasn't the WH just putting Lutnick out for PR. He was answering questions after the court hearing.
Having read DOJ's memorandum, I can see why they didn't want those lawyers answering questions. None of the career DOJ lawyers would touch this case with a 10-foot pole.
This is the kind of dispute that ruffles feathers here: policy v law. Whatever a good policy it would be to have President Trump involved with the renovations, the law is clear that only JFK's name can go on the building.
I don't know if Trump has bad lawyers or they just know that they can't tell him the truth about outcomes he's not going to like. Either way, the name change is a legal non-starter.
Here is Rep. Beatty and her lawyers:

This is a political talk board. I brought to the board something that I thought was a good political move by the WH.
You're not interested in this topic. Why the need for insults?

Love em or hate em the answer should be obvious:
Trump's vanity.

quote:Idiot. POTUS managing construction jobs is silly. The idea that no outer suitable CM exists in the country is even sillier.

That's not the argument being made. You even quoted the argument.
