Intentionally, trying to manipulate data?
No but with increased testing the amount of cases with skew upward in the beginning.

Clinically “oh you definitely got strep throat”
Next day “strep came back negative, must be just some sort of virus.... good luck w that”
That doesn’t mean people had covid. It means they had a cold. Hell they may have had one of the many Coronavirus. Unless someone can point me to a large uptick in flu negative bacteria negative ventilated patients similar to currently then this mass wave of covid patients in Louisiana in January isn’t real.
Yes I get most/many cases are minor but this theory of oh all these people had covid we just didn’t have a test doesn’t match up to what’s currently going on.

It was the beginning wave without the public panic. Get over yourself

There is just something weird and morbid about the folks who are absolutely wallowing in gloom and doom scenarios.

Clinically as in the fact that the first non-Chinese traced cases in the US were identified because the doctors were SCREAMING that this was not the flu, and far worse than anything they’ve seen from the usual suspects.
They made their own genetic test rather than fight the CDC stone wall further.
If you had this virus running rampant for that long in LA, you would have seen more ARDS attacks, a lot more x-rays containing ground glass opacities with reverse halo sign (which isn’t unique to cov-19, but it’s definitely atypical and an increased incidence would make docs go WTF), and more nursing homes slammed as there would be no extra protection protocols added.
So to claim that it’s been here since January is like calling LA docs collectively idiots to not even piece it together after the fact.
But yet, armchair doc on the poliboard sure as hell can see through it.

How does this cogent commentary get 12 upvotes? Unreal.
No shite! “Eat a bowl of dicks”???
What does that even mean? Such a stupid thing to say.

Oh no! Cases! This shite has been with us for 2 months. Millions of untested cases have already occurred.

I hope your right but the current R0 is estimated between 1.5-3.5. 2 is on the lower end. An R0 under 2 is good news but still highly contagious.
These are exponents in the functions they are applied to.
It’s the difference of only several tenths of a point between marginal and “OH LAWD THERES A FIRE!”
And the only good value to that number is <1

quote:Is the covid cough a long lingering one? I had one that lingered and wouldn’t go away for 3-4 weeks with no other symptoms in late Dec and early Jan. Went to the doc about 2 weeks in and they didn’t even test for flu or anything because I hadn’t run a fever. Just wrote me a prescription for promethazine syrup and some gel tab cough suppressant.
Haven’t seen legitimate reason other than “yeah I felt bad around January-I had the covid!!”
Maybe I had the covid already and have immunity now

Stop saying R0 like you know wtf you’re talking about

Is the covid cough a long lingering one?
The classical presentation is a mild dry cough and fever for a couple of days which gets better and then 48-72 hours later your immune system kicks in and symptoms are a lot worse.
On the mild end of the spectrum you get lethargy, maliase, and achey.
On the bad end of the spectrum you get shortness of breath, ARDS, pneumonia, and a respirator.
Shortness of breath is typically the best self diagnostic symptom for covid

So it will be 1 million cases in the USA alone in 6 weeks, when it has been on those other continents since November and the worldwide total in that 4 months is only 300,000?
Makes sense.
Makes sense.

Based of SK’s population data, which has been mirrored in other places, that would mean 50k+ corona related deaths.
Pretty sure that didn’t happen.
