IT'S OFFICIAL: Louisiana lawmakers to hold historic veto override session (from @AP) Associated Press
quote:
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana lawmakers will hold a tradition-busting veto session as Republicans push to overturn Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards’ rejection of bills that would ban transgender girls from school sports and remove restrictions on concealed handguns.
The session — to open Tuesday and last up to five days — will make history as the first veto session ever held under the Louisiana Constitution enacted in 1974.
The constitution calls for a veto session to be scheduled automatically when a governor jettisons legislation. However, a majority vote of either the House or Senate can scrap the gathering, and lawmakers had canceled every veto session over nearly five decades.
But the Republican-led House and Senate are spurning that tradition this year. Neither chamber’s membership turned in enough ballots by the Thursday midnight deadline to stop this year’s session, according to GOP House Speaker Clay Schexnayder.

Trannies gets overridden
Sheriffs flex their muscle and CC does not get overridden

This will get interesting.
Will the opposition try to bribe Republicans not to override the veto, send mobs to intimidate, or just disappear to DC like the shitbags from Texas?

If this is purely for transsexuals and conceal carry doesn't pass, I will laugh so hard.

Interesting scenario but we know spineless politicians often disappoint

So you need majority to get the session and 2/3s to override anything?

Look for every left wing group to boycott the state. Don’t be surprised if the NFL says no more Super Bowls in NoLa or is the NCAA say the sugar bowl is no longer part of the NCAA playoffs.

NCAA has no call on the Sugar Bowl. The playoff system would have to do that.
As far as the Super Bowl goes, taking NOLA out of the rotation leaves a decent hole in the list of venues capable of hosting it without weather issues.
Dallas proved to have both weather issues an an inability to get all the work done in time for seating for tickets already sold, for instance.

Difference is that one side will be able to shoot straight.

There are a few voting law bills that will be overturned, but some Republicans don't want to go on record on the big two because if they don't have enough votes; it'll piss off JBE and others.

Correct, and the bills will start in whichever House or Senate was first created.
So there's a possibility, the Senate doesn't pass the gun conceal bill and the House doesn't even vote on it.

Considering how many GOP legislators there are, I’m not sure it does any good unless the entire caucus bails ASAP.
If the GOP has damn near enough for the 2/3 vote to overturn, they have a quorum already. Disappearing just means that the Dems don’t get to finagle the other side into backing off.

We can dream.

The Senate has one more elected GOP lawmaker than needed for a two-thirds vote, but Lake Charles Republican Sen. Ronnie Johns — traditionally an ally of Edwards — announced he’s skipping the veto session to recover from knee replacement surgery. That has some conservatives accusing Johns of avoiding the session to dodge the politically tricky override votes.
They need to require this dude to do his job online like the rest of us have/had to for the last year and a half. No excuses.

Correct.
Now, the 2022 Final Four could absolutely be at stake.
