My wife and I shot more than 100 rounds on Saturday.
In like an hour. LOL.
And we weren't even really going at much of a pace.

So the government too inept to find and locate illegal aliens is going to locate a significant number of illegally modified guns by putting agents at every gun store, every gun range, and roving about the woods?
Gun ranges would require an idiot opening up a weapon he did not rent from the range that is at or near full auto. The range would then have to call the police. Or report it and let police see video.
And the woods I explained. They're called game wardens. Would they catch everybody? Of course not. Do they catch everybody now? Nope. I went out to Toledo Bend 3 years ago in a boat. Just to drink beer. I did not have a license to fish. My fishing pole may or may not have come out.

Its a failed argument that they have no response for, we have been over this too many times unfortunately. Fact is we do not know what happened with this guy. My guess is terrorism thats why the media black out.

Are you under the misconception that the 2nd amendment was written for hunting or just personal protection?
I've actually done quite a bit of research on this topic on my own and I think I have a pretty good idea of the thinking surrounding the second amendment.
quote:
It was not. It was written to ensure citizens the right to be armed so as to oppose a tyrannical government. Limiting magazines to 5 rounds (or whatever you think is a good number) goes against that reason for the amendment.
I think you are sorta right but say you are 100% right. A high capacity magazine is going to do jack shite against a gov't force that has tanks and Apache helicopters.

What is needed is more mental health assessments in this country.
Mental health treatment is this country is terrible because most people don't want to acknowledge most mental health issues as diseases just like cancer, diabetes, etc. but that's a discussion for another thread.
quote:
I think you mentioned some type of record being kept regarding ammo purchases.
Nope, I've made one specific proposal and am generally opposed to most other proposals on 2nd amendment grounds. The people attacking me in this thread are to close minded to see that I 95% agree with them on gun control issues.
quote:
It all goes back to mental illness. Over the past 25-30 years this country has drastically changed the way it handles these people. Here in Tuscaloosa there used to be Bryce hospital and Partlow, neither of them have but a small number of patients now. The government pushed these people out into society so they would not have to foot the bill. We are all paying for that now.
Completely agree.

Good for you but is the bullet casing metal or is it plastic too?

near full auto
What the hell is "near full auto".
If I take my semi-auto AR-15 and shoot it as fast as I can pull the trigger. Is that "near full auto"?

Those 4 shooters were absolutely batshit crazy.
Well. The background check in SH wouldn't have been on the shooter.
For Aurora, the shooters weren't using their weapons.
I would probably be fine preventing the VT shooter from having acquired a weapon.
See.
Common ground!

I specifically answered this earlier in this thread.
Dude. I admit. I missed some of the thread and came back an hour or so later.
Did you define it in terms of numbers?

So, NO the deeper background check would not include that question and what happens if "that" person moves in with you after you purchased the firearm? Do you have to turn it in? Good luck with that one too...
The person would need the understanding that they would be held responsible for actions of that person if their guns were stolen. Lanza'S mom felt pretty fricking responsible for her mistake. Right up until he blew her head off.

so a 1 round mag is high capacity? you kook.
Not for me but it is for "them"... Think not, semi-auto is illegal in all forms in most of Europe... Kinda my point...

And the woods I explained. They're called game wardens. Would they catch everybody? Of course not. Do they catch everybody now? Nope.

I know, thats why that idea is retarded. It just prevents people who aren't going on murdering sprees from having hi capacity. The people going on murdering sprees are going to MURDER PEOPLE, what the hell would they care about a secondary charge of illegal magazine possession?
Is it easier to buy marijuana in Louisiana or Colorado?
I'll bite, its obviously Colorado. What on Earth does that have to do with the topic at hand? Is it because I said "hi capacity"?

Did you define it in terms of numbers?
Yes. I went by the prevailing legal standard definition with is anything over 10 rounds.

I should emphasize that I am not opposed to ALL ideas on guns.
Yeah. I'm likely opposed to the vast majority.
But, it's not some default position.
Sell your ideas.

I kinda like having my 30 round mags. I can absolutely think of a potential use for it although I hope to never have to use it.
