Losing Friends

Dear Facebook,
I've now lost two good friends over the last week, who have blocked me because I said I am voting for Trump. These are people I've known for over 20 years each, and see in person several times a year.
One is gay republican who has absolutely convinced himself that if Trump gets re-elected, all gays will get rounded up into camps. Thus, voting for Trump is a vote to basically punish the friend to death.
The other is a married lady who has always been liberal, and so her supporting Biden is no big surprise. But, she has stated that anyone who votes for Trump should have their personal and professional lives ruined.
3-6 months ago and their entire lives before, these were good people, great friends. This OMB stuff is truly wrecking people's lives and minds. I hate all of this. I can't imagine ending a friendship because of who one votes for.
It doesn't change my vote and it's ultimately their loss, but this is really sad.

Your friends were not taught to think for themselves.
Independent thought is seen as evil, and the "good" side has made being free of indoctrination a bad thing.

He obviously missed the part of Trump’s speech at 2016 convention where he offered support to the gay community and pointed out what a moment it was to have that be applauded at the GOP convention.
These people don’t think.

Well, this one was going to a camp, so no need to lament this "loss". He was "lost" to you anyway. I heard there will be no visitations allowed at the camps.

Had some idiot on FB tell me the only reason Trump isn’t currently a murderous dictator is because congress hasn’t let him be one. As if murderous dictators get thwarted by governing bodies

The same has happened to me. The anger stage lasted a few days. The other stages flew by. I am now serene with their loss. They were subliminally damaged the whole time if they are unable to be objective.
Progressives are a cult. They found the weakness and exploited it. Their subjects are emotionally based and will not change. Politics rule their lives so they are stunted as well. There is so much more.

I was kicked out of several of my musician groups for political opinions not even voiced in those groups. I’ve lost more than a few friends just for occasionally refuting obviously fake news stories, not even for supporting the president.
I’m on social media because I’m single in my late 20’s and social media is one of the few ways I can interact with people thanks to covid bullsh*t. I also use social media to promote my bands and find out about festivals, underground concerts, and events (None of which are occurring right now, thanks to Covid). Also, a Facebook account is required for most dating apps.

I manage a couple of group pages so that's not so easy for me to do. Also, I do like keeping in touch with people I don't see as often.
The pluses still outweigh the minuses, but the gap is closer than ever.

He should consider himself lucky that he’s in the 50% of gays who will be exterminated in Trumps 2nd term. He could already be a casualty.
