California Governor Gavin Newsom is coming under increasing pressure to declare a state of emergency over the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles
Supporters claim that declaring an emergency would free up state and federal funding typically reserved for natural disasters, such as earthquakes or wildfires.
It would also eliminate or streamline bureaucratic red tape that can often delay shelter and housing developments.

California has done everything they can to thumb their nose at our president at every turn. In addition, I’ve seen comments from Prog Cally lovers/Trump haters on this very board laughing/bragging about how wealthy California is and how vital to the rest of us Rubes they are in that wealth and progressive wisdom. So I say let California fix their own mess. Surely with all that wealth and wisdom they don’t need any ‘outside’ assistance.

It's crazy. Some neighborhoods actually bought huge boulders to put on the sidewalks to discourage homeless tents going up.
What does San Francisco officials do? Get city workers to remove the boulders saying that it's bullying and that's not how they do things

I live here and don't want the Feds use federal money to clean it up. We pay enough taxes in this state for them to clean up a mess of their own making. Garcetti is an idiot along with Newsome. Just make sleeping on the street illegal and pick these people up and put them in a home or jail.
