Or make the women dwarves black women, since they have beards. Create an AI version of Michael Obama as a dwarf woman with a long beard.

Good. Don’t need the made up world of Middle Earth into something like the made up world of Wakanda. Some folks legitimately thought that shite was real.

Well you would think the director of the block buster Animal Farm would be all for some DEI. I guess box office failure will change your outlook when you can't afford to have it happen again.

100% this.

He knows if he has another box office flop, especially with a franchise like Lord of the Rings and he'll never get to direct another film again.

Yeah, but they don't like being told no.

I smell a bullshite sexual harassment accusation coming. Only in civil court, of course.

Some of the Orcs were, shall we say, off white.

They want to make money and it’s a common sense move to stick to the original setting of lord of the rings …. Also because they know who the target audience is - hardcore Tolkien fans.

correct. is there's any creativity left in Hollywood the wanna be inclusivity orcs can write stories about the inhabitants of Harad and Rhun. They're in the LOTR universe as well.

I don't think any of them will factor into the events of The Hunt for Gollum.

I would wager that's true. I think the hunt happened after Mordor set Gollum loose. Gollum sure knew the ring didn't go that far south nor east.

I wasn't sure on all of this so I looked it up. Essentially the film is going to fill in the 17 year gap between when Bilbo left the Shire and the Fellowship began. The hunt for Gollum begins before he is captured by Sauron and also after. Aragorn also captures him after he is set loose from Mordor.

Out of curiosity I asked AI about Harad and Rhun. If what AI is telling me is what Tolkein wrote, then there's plenty of 'canon' material that can be used.

quote:

Second Age: Númenórean Domination
Early Númenóreans befriended Harad, teaching agriculture and crafts. Later, imperialist “King’s Men” enslaved or exploited the Haradrim, establishing Umbar as a colonial stronghold. This oppression helped drive many Haradrim into Sauron’s arms, where he was worshipped as “king and god.”

Those who want to see a literary / cinema work set in the LOTR universe will want 'canon' material. NObody wants to read / watch what some self important wokester wrote in an attempt to 'improve' on what Tolkein did.

He's an abashed leftist. The fact that the leftists are so extreme that we find ourselves aligning with, Andy, Bill Maher, etc...is an indictment of how far they've gone
