what race are Orcs?

Orc. They aren't human, and they're played by a mix of actors in heavy makeup. The actual human beings in Norse mythology are white.

Is it really that hard to come up with your own original, interesting stories? Why do you always have to make black guys wear the white man's clothes as some kind of bizarre social justice?

He could add a couple dozen orcs to the storyline and give those roles to the blacks, right?

Problem solved.

Vikings in Lord of the Rings?

Anyways, I am not familiar with the Hunt for Gollum in the stories (I take it they've created this script from his appendices), but from the sounds of it I don't think there is going to be any war that would bring the darker skinned peoples' of Middle Earth into the mix.

They're elves, actually. They too are white. Just tortured, twisted and filthy.

Don't worry. They are currently buying up all of the "Creepy Pasta's" and available from off of the internet. After YT's have found success making them. Slender-Man, Mo-Mo, Backrooms, Liminal Spaces, Mandela effect, Ask Charlie, etc...

I heard that they're now in talks with Tolkien's estate to potentially start using The Silmarillion for scripts. Am in much support. There are some good stories to be told in there. They could make a great movie based on the story of Beren and Luthien.

At least Peter Jackson respected the source material. There is no way that if The LOTR movies were made today that they wouldn't be the same films. Hollywood is obsessed with pushing diversity because they hate Western Culture. Notice in the Moana live action remake that they respect their culture by not race swapping characters, but crap all over The Odyssey.

Agreed. And I hope they continue producing movies based in the Middle Earth universe. There is still a shite load of good material to source from there. They could continue making movies based on those stories for the next 50 years. And I would watch them all.

Then surely that means it can be populated with nothing but whites, no?

Or do you suddenly object?

Tolkien never really spelled out where the orcs came from. Christopher Tolkien included the part about the elves in the Silmarillion but Tolkien himself changed his mind about it several times.

Just give Gollum a scene and call it a wrap.

Oh and don’t forget this one:

Because that's how his father wrote it. J.R.R. Tolkien wrestled with the origin idea later in life, but throughout most of his life that is how he wrote the creation of the Orcs and it was never changed.

His problem with it became the idea that if Orcs were corrupted Elves, that would mean that they too have immortal souls and maybe it wasn't the Christian thing to do to murder them all. But he never changed it and that's how they're presented. They were captured Elves corrupted by Morgoth and transformed into monsters.

Speaking of which though, another story they could make would be about the events after Lord of the Rings. Aragorn spent 15 years (I think it was) hunting every one of them down and killing them without mercy. Then when he died Arwyn said goodbye to her family and went to the place she and Aragorn had first met and laid down to die. Just laid there indefinitely as an immortal until she eventually died long after. It would make for a good story.

Look, dude, I'm just trying to squish his dumb point about orcs. It doesn't really matter where they come from. None of that means Norse mythology is or can be diverse.

Right. And I was adding to that point. The orcs are also white.

There are some dark skinned people in his stories however, but I don't think any of them will factor into the events of The Hunt for Gollum.
