One of ML's brothers, a family of 8 kids I believe, was a frat brother back in the 70's. Never a fan of his dad, he often talked about how many millions of dollars his dad & Democratic cronies made off the sale building the Super Dome. On parents' day, his mom would bring large cartons of food fresh from the docks/the Port of Orleans.

I'm not even sure what positions I've actually taken on Mitch that you feel are contradictory to one another. I honestly can't say I've ever really had much of an opinion on him at all except to say that as being mayor of New Orleans, he's probably more corrupt than your average politician.
My mother's a Democrat, and she cares about children. That's why I challenged Roger on his statement.

Roger implied that to be a Democrat one must not care about children. That is straight up hyperbole, even if statistically valid. That hyperbole is solely meant to draw a distinction between parties that isn't really there. I remember a time when Roger's posts weren't quite so partisan - more just conservative.
Like I said, I don't really know enough about Landrieu to have much of an opinion on him. I never lived in the city while he was mayor. I clicked on this thread hoping to actually learn something about him - but alas, I'm still just at...
