I use Brave as a browser and Duckduckgo.

Sygic as map app

Rumble over youtube (more shite going to rumble everyday).

Transitioning to proton mail.

It isn't too hard to get rid of Google. Youtube is toughest part of getting rid of Google.

Yeah everybody knows that already.

So does Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest, et. al. The internet, smart phone, apple watch, ipad, smart tv etc are also always listening. Oh and the government is too.

YouTube and a calendar app that crosses platforms so my wife and I can stay in sync. Protonmail’s is out in beta, I think. Well both step up to a subscription if it works.

Google is one of the reasons the United States a great country. A trillion dollar company that has made life easier for billions around the world.

Only in America can a company even dare to dream to change the world like they have.

Google is also selling everything you do to governments, both foreign and domestic. Turns out there's no 4th amendment protection when you freely give them your data.

The entire internet was created by the department of defense. Now let that sink in.

He ain't got time to listen anyway....too busy burning jet fuel globetrotting around and getting paid handsomely to tell folks how bad it is for the environment to globetrot around burning jet fuel.

So what phone do you use?

It's a crap shoot between iOS and Android, so are there actually viable alternatives?

Librem 5

Also, read that Gab will be releasing a phone.

Another option is to de-google your Android.

I have no experience with any of those, just sharing information.

Maybe you're joking about this, thinking people's concerns are overblown. I know I felt this way for a long while.

Here's an interesting experiment: think of something (a place, or especially a hobby etc) that you aren't interested in. Just casually look into it, hell try doing it from a different browser. Something like cross stitching, or growing your own cherry tomatoes.

Go to some websites that post ads in the content, and see how long before you start to see ads about it.

Now, go consider how much, if anything, that you are interested in, that you haven't searched a lot more.

We've all come to accept that, but it does get creepy to think about.

And has this become easier to do without totally complicating the use of the phone? I looked into it a while back, and seemed pretty complicated.
