I guess we'll never know how many people would have died to prove this out.... wonder why
What we do know is that for everyone under the age of about 35, Covid was less lethal than the flu. For those older than that but younger than about 65/70, and not obese or otherwise already very unwell, Covid was moderately more lethal than the flu. Those truly at risk from Covid fell into pretty clear/specific groups - the very old, the very obese, and the already very unwell. For them Covid was a nasty, nasty virus that was life threatening.
Consider all of that and explain how the CDC did good work, and the $6-8 trillion spent on Covid response wasn't more harmful than helpful.

Sure
You could have left it at that, but still had to get in one more all caps horse dewormer.

We found the person (female, likely) who works at the CDC (BamaATL, likely).

Did you not make the cut atlgamecockman? I hear concession workers are in high demand for Braves home games.

Lol horse medicine... anything to not give an inch to people with actual expertise... keep feeling those feelings bro, they're just as good as decades of research
That horse paste ivermectin has been used for decades to prevent blindness and treat/prevent other parasitic diseases common in Africa and other equatorial countries, ivermectin has likely prevented the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions.

And covid, is that a parasitic disease?

So the answer is just, no people helping control outbreaks. Great idea
So your answer is just keep them all and make no changes. Great idea.

Nah how about go after all the contracts with defense contractors who charge $500 for hammers etc... might get more bang for buck there than a researcher making like 70k a year.
Think of it this way:
Prevent preventable disease outbreaks -> people don't die -> people continue contributing to the economy for their whole lives
Defense contractors overcharging DOD -> American people lose money -> endless ballooning of defense budget to keep up
Which would you go after?

Yeah because it's stupid ha
It's also a dewormer and antiparasitic for humans, and labeled and approved as such, but you guys can't help but keep claiming it's a HORSE dewormer. That's stupid ha, right? I'm not challenging your statement about whether it's effective or approved for covid treatment, but why continue to say it's a HORSE dewormer when it's also an approved human antiparasitic?
Posted on 4/1/25 at 3:04 pm to deeprig9
Because it's nuts that people go to the ag store to take things not prescribed and risk overdose and death as opposed to seeking professional help... that's what's stupid... if you have a parasitic infection that requires ivermectin to treat, the doctor will prescribe that.... with an appropriate dose that will not kill you, whereas if you take half a tube of horse dewormer with a totally different, not designed for humans dose, you could end up comatose

Going after defense contractors has nothing to do with cleaning up the CDC scum.

Why not both? I can actually criticize two wasteful programs at once; you should try it.

We should do this, also. No doubt about it.

Both, because your first line above is fantasy and your second line is reality.

I drew the comparison on what the bang for buck would be. That's the comparison. If you're talking about government waste, I think preventing excess deaths probably is a good return on investment as opposed to allowing Northrop Grumman to keep fricking the military dry on pricing... make sense now? Can you hold that idea in your head?

Here's a more realistic version:
Fail to prevent disease outbreak -> people still die, wreck the shite out of the economy -> people continue to pay for massive government debt for their whole lives
