I think the problem (could be wrong) is that Peters was not authorized to access that data... even if it is required by Federal law.
What she did by choosing that path was to break the chain of custody and introduce doubt to the veracity of the data.
I still say the best strategy is to review that data. Strategically, if she did indeed find voter fraud there's a very good case in the court of public opinion this is political prosecution and she is being punished by CO for finding the truth. BUT... it has to be the truth.
If she broke the law and that data doesn't reveal fraud, then she just broke the law and is facing the consequences.
Don't get me wrong, I wish she had gone about it differently and exposed fraud without going to jail. But she didn't. The next best thing is to paint her as a political victim. But that hinges on what she actually found/copied.

Who paid Peters's salary? Colorado, not the United States.
She was simply NOT a federal officer. Even if she were, she lost any protection from state prosecution when she acted unlawfully.
Aa much as I want her out of jail, that argument won't work. It's why you don't have federal marshalls at the Colorado prison right now demanding her release.

How about this? Tina would be moved to federal custody for her protection if she is declared a witness. Trump knows what he's doing or he wouldn't have issue a pardon.

Like I said, if she had sought whistleblower status that coulda been done day 1.

She COULD have sought whistleblower protection(s). She didn't.
The reason why is she likely was wanting to parlay her 'hero status' into something else for personal gain.
I think she was just being manipulated by Lindell's agents because THEY sought that hero status.
They are evil pieces of shite for taking advantage of a grieving mother like this.

Not sure if she had a choice. They were going to destroy it. Didn't they lock her and her staff out of her office and computers before she committed the alleged crime?

you aren’t aware of the federal government using its leverage to force Louisiana to change its legal drinking age?
That was via Congress, not a purely Executive move.
The Executive is extremely limited in its ability to force coercion. We had these discussions in depth with the sanctuary cities reaction under Trump 1. There is no real federal nexus here in reality. In fantasy of LARPers (like that letter posted)? Sure.

Threaten the State of Colorado by informing the governor that the government of the United States will begin enforcing federal law in Colorado regarding the possession, sale, and distribution of cannabis.
That would be illegal.
Cannabis enforcement has no nexus with any fact related to this case.
