And right on cue - a second Yandex center "uploaded to the clouds".

A second Yandex data center has been hit, this time in Kaluga. Yandex confirmed that a UAV attack damaged part of the facility, completely disabling several data center modules. The company warned that some Yandex services may experience disruptions. Russian air defenses were reportedly active around the facility throughout the night. Local authorities said 26 drones were destroyed over Kaluga and surrounding districts

An attack is being reported on Lukoil’s Ukhta oil refinery in Russia’s Komi Republic. The facility can process about 4.2 million tonnes of crude oil annually and produces gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and other petroleum products. The refinery also supplies fuel and lubricants to Russian forces, making it part of Russia’s military logistics network. The facility was previously targeted by Ukrainian long-range drones in February 2026.
Repairs just finished?

The Redkinsky Experimental Plant in Russia’s Tver Oblast was attacked overnight. The facility is integrated into Russia’s military-industrial complex and produces components for Decilin-M, a specialized fuel used in Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles. It also produces additives for diesel fuel and aviation kerosene. The plant handles experimental and small-batch chemical production and is under international sanctions.

Rubio? Damn.
And Trump will believe every word of it.

The Reuters report confirms what was already visible: Moscow is shopping for an American investor to restart Nord Stream rather than waiting for a peace deal. The pipeline that fed Germany before the full-scale invasion is now the centerpiece of talks between Russian and US officials, with Jared Kushner and Kirill Dmitriev named directly. Five unnamed sources.
The timing is the story. Witkoff, Kushner, and Dmitriev are pushing hard for a trilateral meeting before the midterms. The goal is not diplomacy. The goal is to get Trump to delay or weaken the Graham-Blumenthal sanctions before November 3, ideally before October 19. Moscow is frantic because the clock is running out.
The Kremlin understands that once the midterms pass, the political cost of easing sanctions drops, but the window to extract a concession from Trump closes. So the pressure campaign is on.
Rubio just undercut the entire track. He said there are no visible prospects for a negotiated settlement. Witkoff and Kushner are selling the opposite. []
It gives Kyiv a concrete reason to refuse any trilateral before the midterms. Rubio is acting in his own interest, but his interest aligns with Ukraine's here. A dead diplomatic track leaves nothing to discuss on November 2.
Three traps sit inside any trilateral before the midterms.
First, the commercial trap. Witkoff and Kushner want cover to negotiate business deals with Moscow, including Nord Stream and Lukoil assets. Ukraine has zero interest in legitimizing that.
Second, the refinery trap. An active information campaign in the US blames Ukrainian strikes on refineries for high gasoline prices. A trilateral gives that narrative a stage.
Third, the fake peace trap. The pro-Moscow group wants to tell Trump that talks are happening, the war is near its end, and sanctions should not escalate.
The whole play is that. Ukraine should not walk into it. No trilateral before November 3. After that, the event can happen somewhere neutral, away from any stage Kushner built for himself. Source: Resurgam

Putin already made his bed in 2022 and the EU paid 300 billion euros for the privilege of sleeping in it. Any restart of Nord Stream needs a war crimes tribunal attached, not a ceasefire.
quote:
Two of the four [pipelines] survived 2022 and the Lubmin landing station still stands on German soil. Berlin can kill this option with one demolition order and keeps choosing not to.
quote:
"The pro-Moscow group wants to tell Trump that talks are happening, the war is near its end, and sanctions should not escalate."
quote:
Trump already believes it. He met Zelensky at the UN on a 20 point plan and still let Witkoff and Kushner shop Nord Stream to Dmitriev. The midterms are the only clock that matters now.
And Trump will believe every word of it.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Why would a sanctioned Russian with a warrant for his arrest leave Russia? Is the Putin regime weakening and he wanted to get out of town before the palace is stormed? Is he trying to avoid slipping on ice and falling off a skyscraper? Either way I hope Montenegro caught him with a honey trap.

Drones and electronic equipment found in possession of Russian propagandist detained in Montenegro
Olha Kovalchuk, Alona Mazurenko — 9 October, 13:34
Modern digital equipment, drones, electronic devices and phones have been found in the possession of Mikhail Zvinchuk, head of the Russian propaganda information network Rybar, and his associates, who were detained by Montenegrin law enforcement officers.
Source: Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti, citing sources in Montenegro's security services, as reported by European Pravda
Details: During the detention of Zvinchuk, his wife and their associates in the town of Risan, they were found with "drones, sophisticated digital equipment and electronic devices".
A criminal investigation into the detainees is underway. A large-scale operation in the Bay of Kotor area is being conducted by officers of the Tivat Security Department in cooperation with the National Security Agency (ANB).
Vijesti reports that the Montenegrin police and ANB will take further measures within their powers to protect national security.
Earlier in the morning, Vijesti reported that the operation was being conducted amid suspicions of hybrid activities by the Rybar network, which UK and US authorities have linked to Kremlin propaganda and foreign information influence operations.
According to the same report, Montenegrin security services had received information that members of the network were arriving in the country, and their movements had been monitored for several days.
The purpose of the visit was reportedly to film a documentary about Montenegro bringing its visa policy into line with European Union standards.
Sources in the security sector said the planned content was intended to portray European integration as a politically imposed process that would have negative consequences for tourism, economic stability and Montenegro's national interests.
Background:
On the morning of 9 October, Zvinchuk was detained in Montenegro along with his wife and colleague, Valeria Zvinchuk, as well as three other people.
Mikhail Zvinchuk is subject to UK sanctions, and the US Department of State has listed him as being involved in malicious influence operations targeting the US electoral process.
Under its Rewards for Justice programme, the US Department of State is offering up to US$10 million for information that helps identify or locate foreign actors involved in interference in US elections, including suspected Rybar associates, or helps prevent such activities.

Before his detention, Rybar boasted in his last post that a "f**king idiot" border guard failed to check him against the database.
Before his detention, Rybar recorded a video saying Russians in Montenegro are being "terrorized," though not all of them, since he had "somehow gotten in."

$1.5 billion to repair at a minimum then the compressor stations have to be repaired. Now you have a problem with hydrates forming in the feeder pipelines and crashing the compressors just like before.
100% speculation. This isn't Manhattan real estate development. It's a different set of financial skills, just like the claims of buying refineries in Russia owned by Lukoil.

The English skills of the author of this post are not strong, so he's a bit difficult to understand sometimes. But he certainly has good sources and knows what he's discussing.
It's certainly not speculation. Kushner and Witkoff are trying to buy the future of Lukoil and Nordstream after the war by purchasing the written-down assets today at pennies on the dollar.
There is no discussion nor intension of refurbishing the two destroyed lines. However, there are still the two older Nordstream pipelines still intact. More importantly, the controlling interest in any post war pipelines is also in play. That's what Kushner and Witkoff are trying to buy.
Right now, the leverage they have to push this through is that they are promising Putin that they can get Trump to nullify the Graham-Blumenthal sanctions. But they have to get this done before the midterms as the Russians believe that Trump will lose both Houses of Congress then and thus lose his control over the sanctions.
In other words, Congress can't override a Trump veto now, but most probably can in January. At least that's Putin's fear. So Kushner and Witkoff are trying to use their leverage before it expires Nov. 3. Their goal is to grab legal control over Nordstream from the Russians and then after the war is over, rebuild the entire system with EU taxpayer money. No Russian reparations for Nordstream. So I don't have to tell you what a hosing the EU would get if this happens. That's why they're talking to Putin.
In the meantime, Trump is being told by Kushner, Witkoff and Putin that a golden just-before-the-midterm-election peace agreement will happen, making Trump look like gold and somehow reversing his historically low popularity rating. That's the only way they can talk him into nullifying Graham-Bluminthal before the election. The pitch is that a peace agreement would override if not make moot any sanction busting.
Of course, the elephant in the room everyone is denying are the Ukrainians. They have zero interest in playing along. They will attend the talks of course, but with the prospect of a Democratic Congress in three months, talk is all they're going to do.

We warned the Germans about cutting deals with Russia so what do we do? Cut a deal with Russia.
Meanwhile Russia continues to help Iran kill Americans.
Some believe Putin has something on Trump. Stuff like this makes them believable.

Simple searches show that assets owned by Lukoil OUTSIDE of Russia are being sold off, not those in Russia. That was a half truth fake news report. There are a number of entities interested in them, mostly out of the Middle East.
One of Enron's worst deals was in India where their transmission line was controlled by government sources. Those Harvard MBAs celebrated how they made a great deal (on paper), They were then squeezed by the government and lost the entire asset they purchased from the Indian government.
The compressors supplying Nordstream (1) crashed from hydrates forming in the feeder pipeline and hitting the rotor like gravel would. Nothing was flowing before blowing up the lines. As Penrod noted, automatic shutdown with check valves closing maintained the existing pressure in the pipes and a lot of natural gas to flow when pressure relieved. Clueless journalists all reported it was the turbines. These are gas turbine driven centrifugal compressors, and I suspect vertical spit case axial compressor.
This is no different than the clueless politicians in NOLA and the former PhD (in Public Policy) who always blamed pump failures on (steam) turbines when they were shorted out generators. They used the pronunciation of TURBYNE when every swinging dick in engineering, maintenance, and operations in the US uses the pronunciation of TURBIN since pre WWII.
In large, journalists are morons when it comes to anything above good writing and speaking skills. Geoanalysts like Peter Zeihan don't know shiite from shinola about crude oil/refining, and natural gas/processing which he shows every single video he expounds on the subject. On these subjects he is clueless, as is my personal friend Ariel Cohen or our mutual friend Jack Wheeler (an aide to Reagan for the small wars strategy against the USSR). Ariel has learned some on these topics but still lacking. Jack actually believed that Louisiana could shut THE valve and turn off 1/3 of oil and gas for the US.

Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different.
Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded.
The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war.
Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world.
Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise.
Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.
We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.

citizen K, why aren't you selling methanol injection systems to manage the hydrates. Well known tech. You could make millions peddling metering pumps and drums of methanol.

Not my thing and Russia doesn't seem to use them. They'd rather have a few guys with torches heating up a pipeline plugged by hydrate formation per a friend retired from Shell Pipeline who worked there. They don't use the other method, mole sieves, either.
