Off topic as an example of clueless reporters, there was a recent article by a graduate from Columbia's school of Journalism now for the Current, a Laffy based outlet. She questioned whether the area had the skilled labor high tech enough, She had no clue that the several top contractors in the nation were all based in Louisiana, whether building lines in Silicon Valley or installing equipment in data centers. It has been that way since the early 1980s. Louisiana is the top provider of I&E labor there is.
The journalism grads there from ULL (aka Oo La La) just as far leftist and clueless. Laffy is where geosteerable drilling was developed.

"At this very moment—while our team is speaking with the American team in Florida—the President of the United States is talking to the Kremlin leader, the leader behind this war and this aggression, and is reaching an agreement allowing Russia to export diesel. This means additional funds for the war, additional funds to fuel the suffering inflicted upon us. Undoubtedly, this only emboldens Putin and enables them to continue fighting. It is happening right now, just as we are discussing peace: America is allowing Russia to export diesel. This means millions, billions. Ultimately, it all goes towards the war against people, against Ukraine—against all of us. I believe our team is simply being used as a smokescreen. This is certainly dishonest; it is certainly not how partners should act. And, in my view, it is a weak decision—sadly, a weak decision made by strong partners."

I’m old enough to remember when the rare earths mineral deal between the US and Ukraine would protect Ukraine by making the US a partner in its redevelopment.
That rare earths mineral deal really was one of the more idiotic episodes of this entire idiotic war.
Here’s to Ukraine continuing attack American energy supplies.

Trump didn't even try for a cease fire. He got his phone call which established whose priorities took precedent. Fifteen hours of high sulphur diesel. Once again, TACO gives Putin what he wants to the detriment of Ukraine and the "peace" process.

It seems the diesel deal is just for propaganda purposes for both Trump and Putin. For Russian, it's far too little, far too late.
Churn and burn -
Yield on Russian Gov't. debt is flatlined for any issue over five years. Forced purchasers (Regional finance offices) can get 15% for three years exposure but only a premium of less than 1% for extending seven to twenty years. That means no one is buying long term issues at any yield.

Some sanctions are still in place. The ones that count.

Well okay then. Ukrainian attack drones struck the NZNP Rostovsky oil products export terminal in Rostov-on-Don, setting the Russian fuel facility ablaze. The terminal is associated with infrastructure of the Novoshakhtinsk refined products plant and is used to store and ship petroleum products. The strike came just hours after the US eased sanctions on Russian diesel exports and Trump announced an agreement with Putin for millions of tons of Russian diesel

Maybe, maybe not.
However this Trump/Putin deal is an attempt to coerce Ukraine to not strike refineries and a win for Putin. Very obvious as mentioned above....

I've seen some articles that say it will come from supplies promised to existing customers thus tightening supplies world wide.

This sentiment doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Worldwide supply would be a function of worldwide production and worldwide consumption. The diesel is making its way into the world supply, US is part of the international market of diesel. Unless we are just flaring it off when it gets here, someone in the world is going to consume it so nothing changes.
We go through 4 million plus gallons a day. This drop in the bucket is not going to increase our consumption in a meaningful way.

BREAKING:
Ukrainian long-range drones have struck the Samara LPDS again.
It’a one of Russia’s major oil hubs and has Europe’s largest oil tank farm.
Multiple trunk pipelines converge there, bringing crude from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, and other regions for storage, pumping, and blending into the Urals export grade.
The facility supplies the Russian armed forces and supports a large share of Russia’s oil exports.

This is hard to fathom. Makes no sense. And meanwhile, Putin is helping Iran too.
