No longer "ammunition dumps", now they are "pyrotechnics factories".

Incredible. We can add another reason for the post-war Russian breakup - the ex-Regional States will avoid the economic catastrophe these numbers represent. By setting up as independent States, they can leave Moscow with the bills for this war. A non-minor incentive.

I hold to the standard that Russia is losing more men than Ukraine as the aggressor. Trends seem to show both sides are having manpower concerns to at least some extent. Anything more specific than that, I will be skeptical of.

Same here.

FWIW, ISW is speculating that Putin is relying on the jet drones to overwhelm Ukraine this winter and may wait on the big mobilization.

Well, one week after the elections. Putin lied. Peskov lied. Lavrov lied.

Shocking, I know.

After seizing Auchan, Nestlé and Leroy Merlin, Putin today seized Russian assets of German retailer Metro AG as well. That’s the price of staying in Russia after 2022, calling it “neutrality,” and paying taxes that helped bankroll the war

Richly deserved. Justice prevails once again.

Not sure I’d assume they are going to Ukraine. I think Putin’s grip on power will wobble a bit in 2027.

I know that you people will downvote me but I’m in contact on a regular basis with civilians in Russia. The attitude of people on the streets is starting to sour bigly. My sources in Russia are half convinced that this increased mobilization is for an attack on NATO. There has been a lot of propaganda about how the people around Narva in Estonia speak Russian and that the government believes that they want to be Russian. They believe that Russian government has convinced itself that the USA has outstretched itself with a war in the Middle East and that Europe doesn’t have the stomach for a fight just like the war with Georgia in 2008. My sources are worried about Putin thinking he could attack Estonia and rally the population around Russia. Putin would then be in a position of strength to trade not continuing the attack in all the Baltics in exchange for the west stopping the aid to Ukraine. My sources believe that is crazy and that NATO would fight back but that Putin is no longer living in reality.

I don't doubt any of these beliefs.

I also don't doubt that overstretched in Ukraine makes it easy for the Baltic Nations (including Finland, Sweden and Poland) could make easy work of mopping up such Russian agression

Dude I have had friends in Russia since I spent a month doing missionary work there back in 2011. I don’t need social media. I can message them on telegram.

Way too many Russia-affiliated "missionaries" and "entrepreneurs" in this thread. A statistically unlikely amount. My point still stands that your contacts are going to be like minded slavaukinis like you. They exist in Russia or outside who fled. Russia has cancerous percentage of the population, much like we do in the US who want to see their country get globalised(looted) and diversified.

This thread is about war in Ukraine, but nothing is getting posted about Kiev getting absolutely assblasted daily. Russia has a free reign to hit whatever they want as many times as they need.

what's you overall take on Ukraine as a nation?

Are they a legitimate nation in your estimation?

Are they a separate, distinct population?

Do they or should they belong to (or be part) of the Russian Federation?

It’s a complicated question but I basically believe that most of eastern Ukraine, including “Kyiv” and Odessa, are culturally Russian. I also believe that Russia has a legitimate national security interest in not allowing a USA proxy regime to control Ukraine or Belarus for that matter. I also believe that many in Washington and Brussels have a concrete strategic goal of breaking up the Russian Federation into a constellation of rump states so western corporations can control their natural resources. Finally, I believe that a lot of irrational ethnic hatred of Russians is driven by diaspora Jews who grew up hearing stories from grandma about “the Russians” who burned down their village, not understanding that if you believe in the new paradigm of the “Ukrainian” ethnicity then it was Ukrainians, not Russians, who burned down their village. But back then they were considered the same thing. Other than that, I don’t really have a take.

Zelensky: Overall drone interception rate amounts to 70%, for jet-powered drones currently only 57%

28.09.2026 22:51

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian forces are already using interceptors against jet-powered drones, but the interception rate is currently only 57%.
The head of state said this in his evening address, according to Ukrinform.

"The overall drone shoot-down rate as of today is 70% – this includes both regular and jet-powered shaheds. But for jet-powered shaheds, unfortunately, the rate is much lower than it needs to be – 57% for now. New interceptors are being actively tested," Zelensky said.

According to him, some combat units are already using them, but certain details still need to be refined to achieve sufficient effectiveness and scale.

"We are pushing the developers to move faster. Every week, there must be more concrete results in terms of shoot-downs along the interception lines," the President said.

As Ukrinform reported, Volodymyr Zelensky previously said that two Ukrainian companies had successfully conducted combat tests of interceptors, during which a Russian high-speed Shahed drone was destroyed.

Listen here bot. I have been commenting in this thread and the one on the OT since before the invasion. Not only that but I spent a month in the summer of 2022 working as a volunteer physician in a children’s hospital in Kharkiv city which was inside of Russian artillery range. I don’t have to prove my credentials to anyone.
