Russia is deploying North Korean unit armed with dozens of ballistic missiles to attack Ukraine, Reuters reports
Viktoriia Shabranska — 5 August, 12:51
A North Korean missile unit is being deployed in Russia's Voronezh Oblast and may ultimately field six launchers and up to 120 ballistic missiles. Russia has already taken delivery of 40 of these missiles from North Korea.
Source: Reuters, citing Andrii Cherniak, a representative of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine
Quote: "A North Korean missile unit has begun deploying to western Russia and could be equipped with 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers for strikes against Ukraine, ?an official at Ukraine's military intelligence agency said.
Ukraine is very short of high-end air defences and Russia has tried to exploit this by ?using more ballistic missiles, which are particularly hard to shoot down.
Russia has fired scores of North Korean ballistic missiles at Ukraine since late 2023, but the deployment of North Korean missile forces would be an expansion of the already extensive military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang."
Details: Cherniak said Russia plans to deploy a missile unit of about 90 North Korean personnel in Voronezh Oblast as part of the 112th Missile Brigade.
Reuters reported, citing Cherniak, that Pyongyang has already supplied Russia with a new batch of 40 KN-23 and KN-24 ballistic missiles and has also sent personnel.
However, the final number of missiles will be agreed upon during negotiations next month. Russia expects to receive 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers.

FT: Trump declined Zelenskyy's request for additional Patriot missiles
Mariya Yemets, Oleksandr Shumilin — 5 August, 13:00
The Financial Times has learned that US President Donald Trump declined President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's request for hundreds of additional interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defence system during a meeting at the White House last week.
Source: Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, as reported by European Pravda
Details: People familiar with the matter told the FT that Trump had rejected Zelenskyy's request for hundreds of additional Patriot interceptor missiles ahead of the winter season during their meeting in the Oval Office last week.
The sources said Trump had justified the decision by citing limited US interceptor stockpiles, adding that the missiles are currently needed to protect American facilities in the Middle East and US allies in the region amid the conflict with Iran.

Russia seems to be taking the gloves off in terms of responding with economic warfare of their own. The narrative that they had no recourse is dying.
Seems it's easy to keep warfare asymmetrical when you have a conglomerate of countries supplying you with interceptors.
The Iran war and it's consequences just get more and more disastrous.

Couldn’t agree more. I believe history will remember it as a world-historical level blunder and a seminal event in the decline of the West and the rise of the East.

There's this weird possible middle ground outcome where we actually accomplish what we stated we wanted to when we/Israel started it, but because of the side effects it still ends up as a net negative for the world long term. Which I guess isn't that odd, you see that scenario play out a few times throughout history.

This.
I'm struggling to see anything good that has come out of it so far...I think we'd be happy if we could just get back to the status quo that existed before the war.
I was very happy when we hit Iran; however, that was predicated upon my belief that we had a plan to win. Apparently, we didn't give that aspect of this any thought.

Same, I defended it initially until it was clear that we had zero idea how to actually accomplish any of our objectives.

Drone with explosives found at an airport in Leipzig. Flights grounded.
That airport is important for shipments to Ukraine.

I wonder how many of those generals/admirals who got fired in the run up to the war with iran were the ones that said "What do we do when Iran doesn't do what we want?" or "To control the SOH you will have to put boots on the ground".
I suspect after the war concludes we'll start to see interviews/books about the decision making process from the retired generals. They probably won't be kind to Trump.

I have heard that short of boots on the ground, the plan is to attrit the IRGC enough to allow the three armed guerilla groups to finish them off with the assistance of air power and limited special forces coordination.
Ghaddafi them in short.

That could take years to develop and looks increasingly unlikely.

This will not happen. Our approach to this war is going to solidify their ranks, not destabilize it. That, and there is the question about whether we attacked their water and sewage a few months ago.
The chances of there being some sort of coup, especially when it even looks like they are winning, are close to nil.

The drone supply biz is attracting all the wrong attention.

In the village of Bolshoy Istok near Yekaterinburg, an explosion occurred in the car of Vladimir Tkatchuk, director of the company "Uraldrone Plant," which produces strike unmanned aerial vehicles "Upyr." Tkatchuk has been hospitalized in serious condition.

As it turns out, Vladimir Tkachuk, owner of Uraldrone Plant, who was blown up in his car in Sverdlovsk region, not only manufactured "Upyr" drones but was also prosecuted in 2020 for distributing child pornography…
