China is preparing for Putin’s death: Beijing is looking at the dictator’s potential successors.
According to The Wall Street Journal, China is increasingly building relations with Russian officials and members of the elite who could play a key role after Putin leaves power.
The war and international isolation have made Russia far more dependent on China. Putin, who was once considered by Xi Jinping a “role model,” has gradually turned into a supplicant and junior partner.
Russian authorities have uncovered attempts by Chinese intelligence to establish contacts with mid-level officials, but preferred not to publicize them in order not to damage relations with Beijing.
Today, China needs Russia far more than Russia needs China. China accounts for about 40% of Russia’s foreign trade and roughly one-third of its export revenues.
At the same time, the alliance remains unequal. Chinese goods have flooded the Russian market, pushing out domestic manufacturers.
According to analysts, China aims to secure its influence in Russia even after a change of power in the Kremlin, turning it into an even more dependent vassal — effectively a puppet state and a resource colony.

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, Mykahilo Fedorov confirmed that he had been in conflict with Ukraine's commander in chief, Oleksandr Syrsky. He said that he had previously suggested to Zelenskyy that the general be dismissed, but the president refused. For his part, Syrsky gave the president "an ultimatum" to get rid of Fedorov.
"When the president said that he did not plan to dismiss Syrsky, I said that I agree, this is his decision as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and I will learn to work with him," Fedorov said. "But we faced a complete obstruction of all our initiatives. And Syrsky is not ready to openly address problems," he continued, saying the general seemed more concerned about those plotting "campaigns against him."
"And he gave an ultimatum. And instead of figuring out how to asymmetrically defeat Russia [together], he figured out how to split the country."
He gave Syrsky credit for "sav[ing] our country in 2022" when Russia first invaded and the general led operations around Kyiv that ultimately pushed by the invading force. "But the war has changed,” said Fedorov, and Syrsky was not changing with it.

You only have what about 3 more months left in the fighting season so it will be next year.

Unfortunately all that protesting most likely won’t make a bit of difference. Zelensky is looking more and more like a corrupt dictator. I would immediately pull the license to produce PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot inside Ukraine until I saw where this is going to take Ukrainian government and it’s military. I have been 100% behind Ukraine but Zelensky needs to go.

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces said they struck 11 Russian shadow fleet vessels on July 16: 5 oil tankers, 1 gas tanker, 3 cargo ships and 2 tugboats. Ten vessels were hit in the Black Sea and one in the Sea of Azov. The force said Operation MoLoChKa struck 147 vessels from July 6–16, including 117 in the Sea of Azov and 30 in the Black Sea, with the stated aim of disrupting oil, fuel and cargo logistics used to bypass sanctions.

Ukraine’s parliament approved a new cabinet lineup, appointing Denys Shmyhal as first deputy prime minister and energy minister. The vote also confirmed appointments across key ministries, including interior, finance, health, education, economy, justice and digital transformation, where Oksana Ferchuk took over. The foreign and defense minister posts remain under discussion.

40 minutes ago - How do you say "crawfish" in Ukrainian...?
quote:
Zelensky said Mykhailo Fedorov will remain on his team, with his future role to be announced later. Responding to protests, the president said people were right to demonstrate and added that the government has no secrets from society, only from Russia.
Zelensky also said Ihor Klymenko is being considered for defense minister, though no nomination has yet been submitted to parliament. He said the next minister must address mobilization and the work of recruitment centers, including finding a more respectful approach. Zelensky added that abusive forced-mobilization practices must be eliminated and said this could be one of Klymenko’s strengths.

"We need to fight for every single person. We have to win through asymmetry." - Mykhailo Fedorov.
Other statements by @FedorovMykhailo :
Drone-assault units. We lose drones, not people. Infantry moves in only after drones.
Syrskyi saved our country in 2022. We cannot underestimate him as a commander, but warfare has changed completely. Drones are reshaping the architecture, certain things in technology are changing 20 to 30 times over, and a command system has changed. We cannot rely on what worked back then.
I don't need the position of defense minister to be the defense minister. I need this position to win the war. Mykhailo Fedorov also stated that he had a phone conversation with President Zelenskyy today and that another meeting is scheduled.

Does a major player from the winning side ever say things like this in the context it was said?
