US to provide Ukraine with intelligence for long-range strikes in Russia, WSJ reports
Reuters
Wed, 1 October 2025 at 6:45 pm GMT-5

(Reuters) -The United States will provide Ukraine with intelligence for long-range missile strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing officials, as it weighs whether to send Kyiv weapons that could put more targets within range.

The United States has long been sharing intelligence with Kyiv but Wednesday's report said the new development will make it easier for Ukraine to hit refineries, pipelines, power stations and other infrastructure with the aim of depriving the Kremlin of revenue and oil.

U.S. officials are also asking NATO allies to provide similar support, according to the newspaper.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

According to U.S. officials cited by the Wall Street Journal, approval on additional intelligence came shortly before President Donald Trump posted on social media last week suggesting that Ukraine could retake all its land occupied by Russia, in a striking rhetorical shift in Kyiv's favor.

"After seeing the Economic trouble (the war) is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form," Trump wrote on Truth Social last Tuesday, shortly after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday that Washington was considering a Ukrainian request to obtain Tomahawks.

Tomahawks have a range of 2,500 km (1,550 miles) - easily enough to hit Moscow and most of European Russia if fired from Ukraine.

Ukraine has also developed its own long-range missile named the Flamingo. Quantities are unknown as the missile is in early production.

No, ya'll didn't watch the video.

What he's saying is that he makes money by having the Russians pay him through his company. It sounds like it's awesome.

People on the same ideological side as one another can't even get similar info about how much territory Russia has gained in the past month. Helin said in the comments he expects the number to be closer to 400 square kilometers vs the 259 deep state reported. I suppose it would depend on how you define contested zones.

I agree with some of the replies here, it's possible that Russian airfield strikes have degraded Ukraine's ability to run aerial operations.

In part, this is because there is no such thing as a "front line" anymore. Drones have created massive gray zones, such that "control" is a tricky word. And Russian tactics involve small groups of men bypassing some Ukrainian troops. There was a recent post from a Ukrainian officer who called it "diffusion," with troops from both armies mixed over a fairly large area, without any defined lines.

That's not exactly true everywhere. In closely contested areas that Russia is storming initially you will have those small group units, and a lot of that is due to the fact that Ukro lines are very porous and they rely heavily on covering them with FPV teams and Mavic droppers along with sparely positioned Ukrainian trenches that also don't get much rotation. But once Russians move in they do pull up more troops there to secure the zone so you won't have much diffusion there.

Ukrainians do counterattacks which eventually get repelled but during those counterattacks there is a degree of a gray zone. It's not a static front line by any means.

Also know as Deep Cope. In circles of people who follow the war mapping he's known as a complete joke and he definitely answers to Ukrainian SBU. He's essentially become meme like that Oryx kid which now disappeared who was hilariously overcounting Russian armor losses and undercounting Ukrainian(if he was counting at all).

Nice, jobless utriot(ukro patriot) boomers making fun of landscaping businesses now. I don't operate it, I hired several in the past for bigger projects, but many well run landscaping companies make very decent money. So why would your do-nothing self denigrate them? You look fricking stupid and shows you know little to nothing about real word. You definitely haven't built or developed anything.

Russian strikes kill 4, injure 25, hit Ukraine's railway infrastructure over past day

October 2, 2025 9:23 am

At least four civilians were killed and 25 others injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day, regional authorities reported on Oct. 2.

The strikes demonstrate Russia's ongoing strategy of targeting civilian infrastructure to pressure Ukraine, as Moscow continues to dismiss calls for an unconditional ceasefire.

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 86 Shahed-type attack and decoy drones overnight. Air defenses intercepted 53 of the drones, but 31 drones still struck six locations.

In Kharkiv Oblast, Russian strikes killed one person and wounded 15, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said. Six settlements in the region came under fire.

In Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed and another injured, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin.

Kherson Oblast saw two more deaths and four injuries after a Russian attack targeted critical and social infrastructure, damaging an apartment building and 10 houses, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said.

One person was also injured in Odesa Oblast as Russia struck railway infrastructure, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba said.

Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper added that the strike left 46,600 residents without electricity, with repair crews currently working to restore power.

In Sumy Oblast, three people were injured as Russian forces carried out 118 attacks on 43 settlements, Governor Oleh Hryhorov reported.

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a 73-year-old man was injured in Russian attacks, Governor Ivan Fedorov said. According to him, Russian forces launched 587 strikes against 13 settlements across the region.

Russian General charged in absentia for blowing up Kakhovka dam

02.10.2025 03:23

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has notified in absentia Russian Major General Volodymyr Omelyanovych, Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Russian 'Dnepr' Grouping, of suspicion for his role in organizing the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) dam in occupied Kherson region.

The SSU reported this, as cited by Ukrinform.

According to the SSU, the investigation established that on the night of June 6, 2023, the suspect directly coordinated his subordinates in carrying out the demolition of the Kakhovka HPP dam using explosives.

The destruction of the hydrotechnical facility caused a catastrophic flood, which killed 35 civilians and left 24 residents missing.

The uncontrolled surge of water inundated 46 settlements and 1,323 hectares of agricultural land in Kherson region, including 14 communities located in temporarily occupied territory.

The attack also disrupted water supply across Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The floodwaters submerged 55,000 hectares of forest and at least 81,000 hectares of nature reserves and industrial facilities in southern Ukraine.

Additionally, the destruction created a serious threat to the safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by impairing its cooling system.

Based on collected evidence, Ukrainian law enforcement formally charged Omelyanovych in absentia under Part 2, Article 28 and Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes involving premeditated murder committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy).

As reported earlier, on the night of June 6, 2023, Russian forces blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam, flooding parts of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions while simultaneously draining the Kakhovka Reservoir.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Matias Schmale, noted that water supply and livelihood problems caused by the Russian attack have still not been fully resolved.

My only question on this, is why advertise it. Aren't these kinds of actions supposed to be military and political secrets?
