I have been in a lot of refineries. It is far better to talk with a unit's lead operator than any engineer. I would never trust AI to give any good answers at least not what is available to the public. I had this conversation with a friend (post doc at Rice in Tour Research Group the tops in carbon nanotubes and graphene) and found out that what is available to the public is crappy, the real deal gets even trade secrets for science and technology.
Some FCC's have two blowers, one with an electric motor and smaller, the other with a steam turbine as the main one.

Nonsense!!! The Front collapsed and Ukraine is finished. We were assured.
Face it. It's over. It's been over.

As a consultant to improve operating costs, do you use the approach to id how an org works and then force change.

I've never in my life claimed to be either an engineer or consultant. I buy and sell chemical/refining processes and equipment. It pays to understand how things work. My education is in chemistry.

aww your a junque . There is a real need for that line of business. In 1990 I had a 450 million dollar contract for process equipment removal at an ethylene site. Safety, health, environmental issues can be real sketchy in that business, but can be accomplished.
A lot of folks assume that the resale market can hold some real value, but used equipment opportunity has to carry the burden of removal, retro engineering, reinstall, refurbish etc

From clients who buy used over new, no waiting time for delivery is a plus. They will pay up to 60% of new for used. Indies love to save money. Big boys love to spend extra money. Older experienced engineers are key to sales. Young engineers are point and click on computer screens and someone else do actual engineering.
Westlake Group wanted to buy the olefins unit built by Union Carbide at Texas City for an expansion at Lake Charles without the old HK 40 tubed furnaces in 2002, but we could never get a dismantlement estimate so their patience ended. Fractionation and compression portion was almost identical in design to what they had existing. I think that UCC was the last company to use HK40 tubed furnaces.
Process equipment prices are almost double what they were a decade ago with minimum 9 month delivery.

tar pit probably was the wild card in that Texas City tear down

The complex had been there since 1941 just before we entered WWII, no refinery on that site. Interesting that some units with condensers installed during WWIII with spec to have copper tubes, had sterling silver tubes instead. Copper was more critical to the war effort

Ukraine's intelligence hit two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and tugboat in occupied Crimea – video
VALENTYNA ROMANENKO — Monday, 1 September 2025, 10:44
Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) fighters have hit two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and a tugboat in occupied Crimea.
Source: DIU
Details: Ukrainska Pravda reports that the special operation took place on 30 August.
The estimated value of the disabled helicopters is between US$20 and US$30 million, DIU notes.
Quote: "A grim end also befell the tugboat Buk-2190 in Sevastopol Bay – during an air attack against Russian forces on the peninsula, Ukrainian intelligence personnel guided a warhead into the vessel.
The demilitarisation of temporarily occupied Crimea continues!"

Do you find it ironic that everyone of these Ukraine Firsters that support this war and beg for it to continue have either never served in the military or any combat zone? They are larpers. Yet they lust for war as long as it is not them having to fight it. Hypocrites supporting a war that they never lifted a finger to fight in.
Their contribution has been to post in a safe space echochamber for over three years while sitting safely in their state of delusion.

Stability (i.e. No War) in Europe serves America’s interests.
It is in America’s interest to oppose Russia’s invasion.

It’s in our best interest that markets around the world are stable. We suffer when there’s turmoil in the Middle East. We suffer when our markets in Asia and Europe are not stable.

He certainly has that opportunity. With Ukraine he is up against an actor, Putin, who does not share the view that peace and stability serve a common interest. Aggressors must be opposed in order to restore peace.

Russia and Ukraine have been warring with each other off and on for over 1,000 years.
What you post on this board makes zero difference.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Question du semaine is, "Who killed them?" With the legendary and historic infighting between the Russian military and the various levels of the FSB, my bet is on the Russian military. Particularly since it reportedly took place in Belgorod, a border oblast currently seeing many attacks and Ru troop movements. Giving Ukraine the location of these eight would be a classic Gerasimov Special.
