I don't know how you could have reached any of those conclusions. He'll spend 10 minutes on the trump and the next 20 on his big topic.
Like I said, I still like the guy. He does quality work. But a much larger portion of his show is dedicated to criticizing the administration than it was two years ago. That is undeniable.
Not that there isn't plenty of material with which to work, but it becomes tiresome for some viewers. I see that same shite all day on social media, Bloomberg, CNN, etc., etc.
I am no Trumpkin, and I despise the guy, but please, for frick's sake, I want to hear about something else.

Trumpkins melt as easily as their SJW counterparts

John Oliver's program was great when it conducted research on little known issues or miscarriages of justice. Exposing local government corruption for instance.
I don't regularly watch his program, but occasionally friends send me links or the girlfriend nudges me to watch a segment.
More often then not I am surprised at how well he seems to research his pieces.
His healthcare policy pieces we're as strong as any TV media I have seen and I recently saw his newest Net Neutrality and one on Gerrymandering. Both really solid.

'Ole Johnny Trigger really grabbed Trump right in the pussy, but that's not much of an accomplishment after last week.

Johnny Trigger Warning is 2006 Jon Stewart, just dropping bombs.

Oliver is great. He focuses on specific policies and bring insight, whether you agree with him or not. It's like the Daily Show on steroids

No, but I do enjoy giving my chum Chet Morton a hard time!

The thing is, he really doesn't. It's kind of a pathetic debate strategy to hide behind the guise of comedy and then try to analyze policy. In no way is he qualified to discuss intellectually rigorous topics such concerning economics or the nuances of foreign policy. In that sense, he's no better than Hannity/Maddow/etc. But middlebrow audiences cheer him on for his snark because it makes them feel highbrow.

Gerrymandering
Before I waste time on Oliver. Did he discuss how minority representation requirements are the primary cause of many of the fricked up districts?

The hysterical reactions to the trump administration has completely ruined highbrow comedy - Bill Maher has been dumbed down to the point of unwatchable.
Ditto for Oliver and to a lesser extent Colbert. They all suck now

How long did it take you to come up with this "zinger"?

Lofty Hardy boys reference, mate. His old jalopy really saved the day last week... still can't believe it started right up!

I didn't. John Oliver himself did:
He's usually pretty good at beating online trolls to the punchline.

T or F: The guy is a US citizen.

Pretty sure he talked about that

I'm not sure, but I do remember him saying minorities themselves are often some of the biggest proponents in gerrymandering and the Democrats work it into their favor as well.

Not saying Maddow is good or worth watching but she's far more qualified than Hannity to discuss policy. She's a Rhode's scholar, he is a college dropout shock jock radio host.

He used an example where they tried to guarantee a Hispanic and black representative through a U shaped district with Hispanic community U and black community inside the U.
He said this was a good example of gerrymandering. Of course if he were honest he would say that's fricked as well.
You can't "give" some group representation without "taking" representation away because their is a finite amount of representation. And doing it based on race is absolutely disgusting.
