So you think he's paying significantly MORE than an extra $2500 a year? Going from $1150 per year to over $4500 or so?

Yeah his "$98 to over $300 a month" really does not pass the smell test.
pre-ACA my plan was $85/month and held steady for a few years (slight increase)
from the ACA's adoption until last year, it had almost doubled to $150/month
once ACA dropped this year, THAT doubled to $300/month
so almost a quadruple since the ACA was passed. when i'm the one who is doing everything right (picking the smart high-deductible plan, not abusing it like using the ER for bullshite, actually getting insurance, etc). i get punished because other people want to be lazy or not do what they're supposed to do
makes total sense

I just don't buy that this is common. The vitriol would be so much higher. There would be marches on Landrieus office and in DC every week.

We'd have people marching on the capital if this were honestly true
Wake up!

1. it hasn't hit the employee plans yet fully. that's why they delayed implementation until after november. unfortunately (and i mean for the system at large, not political points), a huge number of people still get insurance via employer
2. lots of young people are on their parents plans. one major insidious part of the ACA plan was kicking the very issue you're referencing down the road a few years by letting kids free ride on their parents' plans
3. young people who don't fall into 1 or 2 either (a) aren't signing up or (b) are getting massive subsidies
i'm own my own business, and i don't have a wife that i can free ride insurance coverage off of. typically in my anecdotal experience, the majority of entrepreneurs who don't have have camel pussy insurance costs avoid the issue by having a wife with an employer-provided plan.

That was like one march. I'm saying there would be people boycotting constantly and marching every week if having your HC quadruple was common.

"This will give healthcare to EVERYONE" "It will be more affordable for everyone" "The average family will save 2500.00 per year"...blah, blah, blah.
Good luck in voting her out LA voters.

They have not . . . . yet.
They will though.

That was like one march.
That was like various marches. Those pics were chosen because they were like protests held in front of each of the branches of government -- SCOTUS, Capitol Hill, and the WH -- like separately.

I think after Labor Day you'll start to see a lot more. In the Acadiana area they've both been running a lot of Ads.

You are coming off as completely ignorant about Obamacare.

What I find fascinating about this line of argument, is the american people, specifically the people of massachusetts, elected a republican! specifically to stop this legislation. Get that, a republican elected in massachusetts specifically to stop this legislation.
Refresh my memory. What stunt did they pull to get past that?

People pay attention to healthcare costs once a year, during benefits enrollment. Deductibles are way up, as are premiums. Most people don't write a check to the health insurance company, it comes out
Of their paycheck.
Also people that have jobs don't have time to protest they are busy working to cover the living expenses of over 110 million people on government assistance

IIRC I pay about $142 each month for my work insurance. Going on healthcare.gov my cheapest plan is 3x that and I qualify for a whopping $14/month subsidy.

My pay is strictly middle class ($45k/yr).
Amiright?

I may be... and I may be trusting the media too much - I've been hearing more positive things about it lately than negative and I haven't seen any protests like in the past.
Also my healthcare is been unchanged.

I think it's valid to compare what one pays today for their care + what care they get for that + what deductibles they are required to pay today
vs.
what they will pay for care + what care they get for that + what deductibles they are required to pay under ACA.
Isn't that an apples to apples comparison?

You don't want to.
When the employer mandate kicks in, I doubt even you will be in denial. I'm seeing effects in my employer-provided plan already.
