There’s nothing remotely attractive about this state if you’re an out of state business unless we are offering massive subsidies or tax credits
Mostly true

There is plenty of room in the budget
Room in the budget for $4 billion in needed infrastructure?
Okay.

It’s not because people don’t want to pay for it
It’s because people know that they won’t see any improvements because the government will squander the money
There’s a standoff right there. We want to pay for it, and we express that desire by not a paying for it.
Ever hear anyone in Louisiana run for office on the platform that they want to improve infrastructure? Neither have I.
Also the fantasy that there is sufficient funds hidden in the budget has no basis in reality.
The solution is simple. We have to raise specific revenue to upgrade and then we have to do it. Without that, it will never happen.
I don’t see it ever happening.

I really want to return to BR. But the traffic problem is making it very difficult to justify a move back. There’s no excuse and our leaders should be embarrassed.

Buddy Roemer did to some extent. I remember I-49 being one of his big pushes.

Naivete......the money is already there just going into consulting contracts which are non quantifiable. You need a constitutional convention with real time accountability not more taxes to be funneled who knows where.

Pretty sure you copied that line from John Kennedy and it makes me a little less upset he isn't running.

Wow! Rarely hear that about returning but LA has worse problems than just roads.

Sorry but no....do a little research into consulting contracts in this state....if brought under control there could be tax cuts....not tax increases......

The largest protected fund in the constitution is the Transportation Trust Fund. Curious how you think a constitutional convention would add more money to transportation?

The ole' "hidden money" ruse. This just isn't true. How about you do some research and show that it is?

Well I'm specifically talking about traffic in Baton Rouge. It's maddening.

Yep. Depressing isn’t it. It’s why I have little hope for this state. I’ll never understand that attitude.

One of the problems is that legislators in North Louisiana don't want to pay for a bridge for Baton Rouge, despite the fact that it is important to the overall economic health of the state.
Guys like Alan Seabaugh are precisely who keep needed infrastructure from ever happening.

Wrong. Good infrastructure results from a rapidly expanding economy. Comrade Honor Code has shot economic growth in the head.

How about you move closer to work?

I' say he had a lot of help in that department, many with R's after their names since they control the legislature.

Think about what you posted and realize that we gave away more than enough money to the film business instead of building a new bridge across the Miss. River.
Our nursing home rules cost us an extra 200 million dollars a year. That's more than enough money to widen Airline Hwy., and Hwy. 30 in EBR and build the Pecue interchange in one year.
