Why is Richards not objecting to any of this. Fatlock is blatantly misrepresenting the standard of self defense. The jurors may assume prosecutors as "the law" and take those misrepresentations to be fact.

I like it. It makes everyone pay attention the entire time and keeps the alternates from thinking "I won't be there so who cares" or something similar and once it's over they each have plausible deniability for being one of the actual decision makers.

it's by lottery... and I'm not completely opposed to it
the theory is it keeps all jurors as attentive as possible as they can all still be selected to actually decide the case instead of knowing beforehand
an alternate theoretically would zone out more easily than someone who knows they are 1 of the chosen 12
that way... if an alternate is called in as 1 of the 12... they may not know as much as they should b/c s/he zoned out

Just remember everyone, these prosecutors have the same personality as about 3/4 of your average law school class. Regardless of this case's outcome, this country is long gone and ain't ever coming back.
