Kids are being taught the wrong things - personal anecdote of today

Just had to brake for a high school aged kid crossing the street without looking both ways.
Here's the thing: this kid was wearing a mask, but was all alone - there was nobody else anywhere. Outside, solo, wearing a mask to prevent whatever supposed airborne germ - but walking across streets without even so much as a glance either way. Completely oblivious, in a world of it's own.
They used to teach about looking before you cross, so you don't walk in front of a car. Seems like a bigger threat than COVID.

Was this in New Orleans?
If so, kid wasn't worried about a virus

My 16yr old boy, no mask, about stepped into traffic yesterday. We taught him to look both ways... some kids are just kinda doofy.

I was never taught that. Not by my parents nor by my teacher in 1st grade. We figured it out on our own.

Mandatory viewing of the little rascals episode when Mickie was hit by a car.

At age 8 I was crossing US A1A in Cocoa Beach to go to the ocean with my year younger sister. Nowadays my Mom would be arrested if we tried that

I don't know where you're located, but Im in South West Louisiana and it's much too hot and humid to wear a damn mask!
That's a common sense kind of thing...

Speaking of teaching kids, here are things we used to teach in days past.

When I grew up it was my job to not get hit by a car.
I blame Walmart. They started this when they put yellow paint on the road around the entrance and signs saying to not run over people.
It’s like peoples survival mechanisms are all out of whack.
Ever see someone get hit by a car? It’s got to be the worst thing that can happen to an ordinary person.

WE used to teach our kids lots of things.. Like..
Say Yes Ma'am and No Sir.. Not pronouns...
Respect your elders and not "Boomers are destroying the country and need to die.
Everyone is Equal and not White People are the Problem with this country.
Work hard, work steady and earn it. Not what the government owes you.
Stand you for your Flag and Country, Not protest against it because it's the latest trend.
Teach your children reading, writing and arithmetic, not personal politics.
Sex belongs in the bedroom, not the classroom.
Male and Female.. Not LDPQRSTUVWXYZ
The 10 commandments and Not Thug life 101.
I could go on...

That's an improvement over the typical kid that has their face buried into their phone, trips on the curb and falls into traffic.
Seriously. I've seen it. More than once.

They're not being taught anything. They're being programmed, indoctrinated and desensitized.
