This clip of KM is why I have considered we might just be better off with Democrats in power, if we are forced to being led by the likes of McCarthy and McConnell. The Democrats want to inject you with cyanide, while the Republicans want to sedate you with morphine.

Is it better to "crash and burn" with the Democrats or smoothly descend into your death with Republicans?

Republicans = managed decline

Your expectations are simply unrealistic. It would be like saying the QB of your favorite team should have just jumped over the defense. That foolishness ignores that it is impossible.

McCarthy and the Republicans did not get much for their threat to not fund the government, but that’s because they didn’t have much power.

Are you familiar with BATNA? It’s the Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement. The Republicans’ BATNA was that the Government runs out of funding and the President has to shut down parts of the government. He would choose things that hurt the most people, and he would blame Republicans. This has been proven to work again and again. The Republicans would lose control of the House in the next election.

Does that sound effective to you? So they had to have a negotiated agreement, just as Biden did. BATNA wasn’t great for him, either. The Republicans got a decent deal.

If you want more austere fiscal policy then you must elect those type of Republicans. Trump damn sure isn’t one of them. Like Bill Clinton, Trump benefited by the heavy lifting done by the previous (two) administrations.

How so? Why would I care if the federal government defaulted? Sounds like a problem for Democrats. They campaigned on the 87,000 IRS agents. All they could was cut them 1%?

Sounds like capitulation, not compromise to me. The problem with Republicans, is our leaders all look and sound like McCarthy. Pathetic, weak, emasculated, little imps. They have no idea how to lead, and are constantly led by screeching Democrats and leftist media attack dogs.

How do they possibly get this done in time? 6/1 was the deadline.

Its going to the House floor today which will drag out all day if people want it to. Then it will have to get through the Senate by EOD tomorrow and signed by Potato.

McCarthy is going to lose the speakership and its going to be hilarious.

What an idiot. The Government needs to be slashed back to 1980s size or smaller.

Why are our politicians so out of touch with the electorate? They are nothing more than a self-serving club feeding off lobbyists and taxpayers.

Yet MAGA claims he’ll come back with a vengeance.

He’s part of the establishment.

Lot of words for "surrender".

Steve Scalise is on Fox Biz right now say McCarthy did a good deal and McCarthy is saying it's the largest cut ever - it's all lies.

It's literally one or the other. There is no escape.

I'll take the smooth descent personally

Republicans are too chickenshit to actually use power. Why do we keep voting for them?

They aren’t chickenshit. They are doing their part for the establishment by being controlled opposition to placate the masses.

This bs better get stopped by the voices that committed themselves that they stand up to KM. If not then Comer, Gaetz and the others are no better than KM. Personally I’d rather a default, and I mean a real default, to crash this whole greedy government. We have offices up in DC that make laws that are not voted on. We have bills with 1000’s of pages that no one politician has a clue about written by lobbyists who serve their own interests, then voted on. We have such a gluttony of evil that has no intention whatsoever to stop. Let this bs end so strong men can rise from the ashes and rebuild

There are two realities about the debt ceiling debate everyone keeps missing.

1) If it were to go long enough to disrupt bond payments, it would create a massive global economic disruption. This isn’t a loan you refuse to pay to China- these are US bonds held by just about every entity in the world with money.

2) The Dems would lay this at he republicans feet and with the help of the MSM it would be a Republican problem.

The time to deal with spending is when the money is spent not when the bill is due. We’ve seen this happen a dozen times.
