Initially charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Attorney General Ken Paxton offered a plea deal to Hoffman lowering a felony and life in prison to two class A misdemeanors and 30 days in county jail. Hoffman pleaded guilty to indecent assault and displaying harmful material to a minor but was not granted his initial plea deal. Visiting Judge Roy Sparkman denied the 30 days and doubled the sentence to 60 days.
Hoffman does not need to register as a sex offender, and his law license is suspended for five years. A crowd gathered outside the McLennan County Courthouse to show their disapproval of what they call a “light” punishment.

my kids are 31 and 26. i think that's too old to molest.
look jethrine, the guys trial ended up in a hung jury and a mistrial he was about to get off scott free so paxton cut a deal he's going to do some jail time and lose his law license for 5 years.

How is the state AG involved in a county criminal prosecution? I am missing the connection to Paxton.

So the jury would not convict based on trial evidence. Next, you assume he’s guilty when a conviction couldn’t be won in court.
After not getting a conviction, not much left for the prosecution to do.
